I Tot I Taw a Robin!!

There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling. ~Mirabel Osler

I was going to do some fun, quirky meme today, but NO ONE HAS ONE POSTED YET.

Okay, I'm over it... but really--I'm posting late today (it's after 6 a.m.), and no one has today's meme posted? **sigh**

Hey! I saw my first red-breasted robin yesterday! Woot! Spring really IS here. I'm thrilled. Well, except that the snow is melting, and I'm able to see all the damage the mole did throughout the winter. It's really bad, folks. Really, really bad.

I was reading an old Readers Digest last night and came across a little article about weird town names. I love this! I have to write something set in one of these towns. Check it out:

Eek
Idiotville
Nothin
Typo (oh yeah!! Love that!)
Why (Think of the possibilities)
Tick Bite
Grubbs

or the sweet, positive ones:

Happy
Cool
Okay
Sweet Lips (HAHA)
Nuttsville

There were several I didn't list, one in particular because the funny thing is...I'm setting my HQA in one! I had no idea when I set the HQA there I would be reading this article. I love coincidence (or the fact there's no such thing).

========================

My friend, Allie, has challenged me several times to write and submit an article somewhere. I've really struggled with this. After all, what do I have to say to edify and educate? But, yesterday an idea reached up and grabbed me, smacked me around a few times and then duct taped me to the keyboard. After I've polished a bit, that baby is going off somewhere. I'm actually kind of excited...

Note: to folks who comment... I am going to do my best to respond to you in my comments each day. It will probably be the following morning, and one big, bubba comment to answer questions or comments all at the same time. Just wanted to let you know :-)

Year of the Snake

Popular and crafty, you are a master at the art of seduction.

You are intelligent and intuitive -and make a savvy businessperson.

You live life to the fullest, even if it means maxing out your credit cards.

Many people are secretly (and hopelessly) in love with you.

Well, except for the third paragraph the rest is a bunch of hooey.

Idiotville? Why???

We're both Rams... who knew? I'm a Ram in the regular horoscope too... doubly-Rammish? Reminds me of a naughty limerick... I'll have to tell you in chat... :-)

Congratulations on your first robin. :) I've been seeing birds around here, too. It's a balmy 43 in this part of the Heartland. *G*

How fun to find the names of some of these places. I can just see it now. A story about a writer who lives in Typo, TX (or whatever state it was in.) How funny. :)

One of our big tourist spots is Hell, Michigan. They have a mass wedding ceremony there on Valentine's Day for some reason.

Enjoy the robins!

Year of the Rat (yep, 2008 is my year!)

You are quick witted, charming, and bring luck to all who know you.

A bit greedy, you tend to go after what you want - with success.

Clever, you seek out knowledge... and eventually use what you know to your advantage.

You are very loyal, and you treat your real friends like they are family.

My birthday falls right before the Chinese new year, so some sites list me as the one before the rat. Though rat seems to fit my personality more. Huh.

As far as towns with weird names: Boring, Oregon. Yes. Boring. I really would have liked to have observed the meeting where someone decided that was a good name for a town.

Mine was year of the Tiger. Um, NOTHING matched. *g*

We have a town near us you'd like. It's Cowpens. *g* No joke. The sad part is it's actually sorta famous for a battle featuring "The Swamp Fox".

Have a good day and congratulations on seeing the Robin.

There used to be town near Little Rock, AR called Toad Suck. *g* Now all that's left is a park.

You are most compatible with a Snake or Rooster.

I think they're just trying to say I'm bullheaded. *g*

I am really interested in that town names article you read. I wonder if I can track it down somewhere. That's really funny that you already set your story in one of the towns listed.
