There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling. ~Mirabel Osler
Look what Judy made me:
=============================
We released three more butterflies yesterday. FINALLY, we had females! You can tell because her yellow spots are quite small, but her blue smudges are more pronounced. Actually, all three were girls. First ones we've had yet.
We have six more in the parsley box, and two more in the dill box. DD has five big bubbas on her carrots in the outside garden.
Pretty amazing how well they blend, hmmm?
While I was outside looking at pillars, I also checked on the garden. Look!
Yes, I picked it. Yum.
My garden looks just lovely, and I have lots of babies:
Not to mention flowers!
Bee balm:
Bachelors Buttons:
Hollyhocks:
And DD LOVES going blueberry picking in our backyard. She gets a decent sized handful every day for lunch.
This really is the best time of year...

More about writing and reading and whatnot tomorrow.. k? But for now... how cool is THIS?

I love garden photos! Everything looks so healthy, good for you! Weed-free too. My back greenhouse garden has got more weeds than I'd like to admit. But at least the melons, beans and pumpkins are thriving, too. Gotta take it all in a garden, I guess. :)
Love the cover for Kitchen Matches, too. Very pretty!
Your pictures are fantastic! Thanks for telling the HQ news! And that's great you have your own supply of blueberries!
Wonderful photos! And wow on the girl butterflies! DD must be so excited. Your garden is growing Very Well. Ours has been decimated by the Dog of Doom. So we gave up for the season. We planned to take the boxes down in the fall anyway to build new ones, more in keeping with the slow refreshing of the backyard. It was sad. Thank goodness we have a local farm stand downtown.
I smile in my garden in Spring. In Summer I fight the temptation to swear very loudly at the Japanese beetles on my blueberries and the poison ivy that chokes my irises.
However, I must admit that the robin nest full of babies in the bush by our door and the rogue flowers that sprang up in the unattended window boxes and my mini roses and happy rock garden full of violets and pansies WILL make me smile, no matter what the season!
Pretty pictures indeed, Marianne! What a lovely summer.
Nice pictures, especially the butterfly.
The butterflies are gorgeous and the bubbas look so cute! Your pictures are lovely.
