Sunday Meme

In summer, the song sings itself. ~William Carlos Williams

Trish made up her own meme, so I thought I'd help spread it around (BTW, this is HARD... I had a tough time narrowing it down to one, so I didn't! *G*):

Famous People Meme — Which famous person in each of the following categories would you like to meet?

If you decide to play along, leave me a comment (and maybe Trish, too) so I can come look!

In Pillar Place 2008, we released another butterfly yesterday. I also opted to put our last, still fairly small, pillar outside -- because I'm afraid he's going to be an overwinterer, and I'm not up to dealing with that again. It's beginning to look like a butterfly a day, though I'm sure it's going to double and triple up soon since we had several pillars making their pupae on the same day.

Unfortunately, we also had our first Pillar Place tragedy -- one of the pupae hatched and the butterfly fell from his chyrsalis before his wings were dry. He landed on his back, and couldn't get up right away, so his wings dried bent. We were checking them about every hour, but stuff like this happens so quickly!

DD named him "Rip" (in memory of a butterfly we had with a ripped wing who eventually still flew) and spent hours trying to teach him to fly. This morning, he is gone from the yucca, so perhaps he did. We won't consider that something else may have happened...

OH -- false alarm on the monarch from Friday. I got a closer look at it today and it was actually a Great Spangled Fritillary.

I thought it was a bit early for Monarchs. Apparently I was right.

======================

Did some more writing on the sequel to Liv -- it's Geoff's story, in case you wondered. Poor, heart-broken Geoff... I couldn't just leave him hanging.

Now, if only *ahem* someone who will not be named would help me out with Stiller Creek, I might have something to submit somewhere soon.

Not like she's busy or anything.

How do you teach a butterfly to fly? I hope Rip was successful in flight.

I see that you're 99% with Stiller Creek; does it have to be the full 55,000 before you can submit it?

Continual good luck with the sequel.

Have a good Sunday.

I love the butterfly news. Pretty interesting, that they're flying away. It must feel great to watch them go.

Oh! And maybe I'm not seeing Monarchs around here! Now I'll have to look more closely. I wondered why they were so early...

Hope you have a great Sunday. :)

Dru, I'm only a couple hundred words short on Stiller Creek, so it's no problem to get it up to 55k. I just wanted another set of eyeballs on it before I messed with it any more.

Sarita, I don't know that you CAN teach a butterfly to fly, but if sheer encouragement will do it, then Rip will be a champion.

So sorry Rip's wings were bent. That's sad. If it was our house, 9 would be beside himself with grief.

The fact that you can tell the difference between types of butterflies is amazing to me.

Yay for more writing! Doesn't that feel nice?

I'll be doing the meme tomorrow since it's been awhile since I've done one and have nothing else to talk about right now. *g*

Awww, good wishes for Rip. I hope he made it.
