Thursday? Already?

I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month. ~ Harlan Miller

It's snowing here again. There's a big surprise. I wouldn't be shocked if my DH doesn't go in to work this morning, either... and, he's on vacation until January 2nd following today, to boot, so life in this household will be interesting for the next ten days or so.

We're hosting the family for Christmas, as well. We couldn't leave Dakota for as long as it would take for us to go elsewhere. She does okay for 2-3 hours in her crate, but longer than that just isn't fair to her.

I'm still not ready for Christmas, either. We realized that we didn't have ANY homemade gifts for the grandparents, so DD and I went to JoAnn's and found some wooden ornaments/frames for her to decorate and then draw a picture for it. Hopefully, that will work for everyone.

I need to wrap presents. I need to bake. I need to fa-la-la and get into the spirit. I'm so not into Christmas this year, which is unusual for me. I think I've just been overwhelmed by stuff. Life has been pretty rough the past few months.

I'm also the world's worst mother -- I forgot to be the tooth fairy last night, and it's too late this a.m. DD is an early riser, and would bust me for sure. I'll blame her absence on the snow. Yeah. That's it.

I can't believe I forgot, especially after the spectacle losing it made yesterday. The tooth really wasn't *quite* ready to come out, but DD bit into a crisp apple and it popped. Unfortunately, blood (LOTS OF BLOOD) followed. Ugh. DD was screaming, the dog got worked up.

And, this was just following me nearly burning the house down. Okay, that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but I was dumping a pan of red-hot coals from our wood stove into the bucket, and the puppy decided to nudge my arm. Thankfully, we have a fire-proof carpet which is now a bit worse for wear. No wonder we have to buy a new one every year!

So, fire, blood, snow...as I told Judy yesterday, next come the frogs.

Worked some more on "Kitchen Matches". I'm working on a love scene of sorts and, though I do have fun writing them, sometimes it's next to impossible to describe what you see in your brain and have it make sense. Typically, my stories unfold like a movie when I'm writing and I have to decide how to write down the action. It's frustrating when you can't get the right words out.

=================================

Another random quiz -- and this one isn't quite so hard as yesterday!!

Not a Jealous Bone in Your Body

You're secure, trusting, and giving with friends and lovers
And while you may have been hurt before, you've bounced back
You're generally happy with your life - and no one's grass is greener than yours
One word of caution: some may see your lack of jealousy as indifference!

That's about right...

Ugh. I don't like frogs.

Hang in there. Things always look up eventually! :)

Hey, Marianne,
I got the same thing you did - not a jealous bone.

I got my first print royalty check on Sat. so that was a disappointment. Was hoping for more. But I decided to look on bright side - at least I got a check for my writing. LOL Hope you get the Christmas spirit soon.

Have a great day!

Wow. You really had a humdinger of a day yesterday. *hugs*

You are SO Jealous

You can't help but doubt your boyfriend, friends, and even family
You've been burned before - and it totally shows
But acting like a guard dog won't keep your guy... it will only push him away
Learn to trust a little more, and *all* your relationships will be better

Oh dear. *g*

Here, have some blueberry gingerbread. It's awesome! It'll make you forget all your troubles.

Marianne, I'm usually disgustingly cheerful at this time, but this year, I'm having a difficult time getting in the spirit. I'm a little behind on baking and all the cards are done, finally, as is the shopping and wrapping, but I'm just not merry-merrying this year.

I'm hoping that the cats trying to get into their stocking will help . . .

Anyway, may cheer overtake your whole household soon, may you have a lovely, old-fashioned New England holiday, and all the best for the new year.

Congrats on becoming a Samhain author!

The tooth fairy is often forgetful at our house. Sometimes she leaves a note to say she's sorry. But sometimes she forgets the note.

The smell of cookies baking can put me in the Christmas spirit. Hope that works for you too!

I have tried to get into the Christmas spirit myself, but it's hard this year.
I play the tooth fairy in our home and I always wait until Son (Daughter KNOWS) is asleep and then take his tooth. Only then do I go to sleep. And I wonder why I'm always tired! *G*
I hope you have a good evening and find some enjoyment in the Holiday.

My DH is also off work starting tomorrow until the 2nd but not me. Nope, I have to be at work, but at least I have 3 days off.

I'm not into the Christmas spirit either. But what a great idea! Homemade ornaments for the kids to make! Great gifts for the grandparents. If only I'd thought of that. Yesterday when I was right by Michaels.

I think the tooth fairy can be a day late.

Things will be better. Enjoy what you can.

I don't have a jealous bone in my body.

I've forgotten the tooth fairy before and blamed it on the weather. Worked like a charm.

Hugs and good luck pulling it all together for Christmas. Sorry to hear about the rug, but it's better than your foot.

I told C once that the tooth fairy lived in New York City and was having commuter problems. I'm shameless. ;-) And I think your "not jealous bone" part is what makes you such a booster extraordinaire for so many writers. ;-) And we're all lucky for it!
