Memes and eBook Readers

“It is odd but agitation or contest of any kind gives a rebound to my spirits and sets me up for a time.” - Lord Byron

I can't resist... and I bet you can't either. Bookbinge is giving away the one big thing I wanted for Christmas, and won't get since I got a puppy instead (not that I'm complaining... well, not really -- though I wouldn't have to potty train this prize!): An eBookwise Reader.

Judy thinks she's going to win. Ha. It's mine, Mine, MINE! :-)

It's easy-peasey to enter, but it means y'all have to put up with another meme. You don't mind, do you? And, hey, now YOU know about the contest, too.

BOOKBINGE CHRISTMAS MEME

1. What is your favorite Christmas romance to re-read each year?

I don't really have one, unless you count MY story, The Christmas Curse *G*. I bought "Santa Baby" last year, and was thoroughly disappointed. Anyone have a good Christmas book recommendation for me?

2. What is your favorite Christmas movie/show?

I absolutely love "It's A Wonderful Life"... I cry at the end EVERY time. What a great movie.

3. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?

To be honest, I'm not particularly fond of most Christmas cookies. I don't like sugar cookies, or thumbprint. I can tolerate snickerdoodles. But, honestly -- give me a chocolate chip cookie, and I'm happy every time.

4. When do you start Christmas shopping?

Usually, the day after Christmas. This year? I'm panicking because I've done almost NO shopping. YIKES. I've just been too busy. Time to hit the virtual stores, I suppose.

5. Do you re-gift?

Sometimes -- the cheesy gifts go to Goodwill, but there are times when I get something that is PERFECT for someone else. What else can I do?

6. What is your favorite Christmas song?

"O Holy Night" (Josh Groban's is the best version I've heard), followed closely by "I Heard the Bells on Chrismtas Day" (Suzy Boggus has the version I love). They both make me cry... yes, I have sympathetic and weak tear ducts.

7. When do you get your Christmas tree?

The weekend following Thanksgiving.

8. Wrapping presents: Love it or hate it?

Used to love it. Now? Hate it. I dread it with an all consuming passion. It's an evil that must be done. In fact, it needs doing right now... I have naked gifts sitting in my spare bedroom.

9. Who is the hardest person to buy for?

My husband. Thankfully, this year he gave me a list.

10. Christmas tree: Real or artificial?

Real.

==============================

I hate editing my stuff. I really, really do. I know there are people out there who enjoy it (**cough** Charity **cough**), but I dislike it VERY much. Unfortunately for me, I have a bunch of stories that need it. I have GOT to get something submitted soon, or I'm going to get the shakes. I hate not having anything out there.

But, ugh. I look at the files, sometimes I even open them... and then I just groan. I don't wanna, don't wanna.... ((kicks feet)).

-===============================

To quote Linus, "Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest." This year, you're feeling a little overwhelmed by all the shallowness and superficiality that surrounds the holidays. You don't care about expensive presents and tacky holiday displays – you'd rather spend a few meaningful moments with the people you love. If you pick out the tree, it might be tiny and awkward-looking, but it will definitely be real.

a puppy?? I have to get back to reading! Murphy seems to have at least budged off the sofa. Oh, Marianne, I read the MOST wonderful book over the past few days that I think you'd REALLY enjoy. For all sorts of reasons. It's called No Place Like Home by Barbara Samuel.

You're Frosty the Snowman!

Happy Birthday! We're not sure why you say that instead of "Happy Holidays," but we think it's kind of cute. For you, every day is worth celebrating, because it's finally winter! You spend as much time as possible outdoors with your friends. You'll take cold, snowy air over a stuffy, overheated building anytime. (Could someone please turn that thermostat down?) Since you like the cold, you don't always bother to bundle up, but you look great in winter accessories like scarves and hats.

They SAY I'm this:

The holiday season brings out your competitive side. You want to give the best presents, have the best-looking house on the block, and cook up the most delicious holiday feast. You strive to be number one at everything you do, which makes you prone to holiday freak-outs when things don't go as expected. As long as you stay calm, you're great to have around during the holidays – mostly because you're trying so hard to make sure everyone else has the BEST possible time.

I don't know... is this me??

Ha... Judy, that is SO NOT YOU. LOL...

Hey folks, for some reason, Blogger isn't emailing me my comments. Here I was, thinking nobody loved me.

I AM loved.

Just not by Blogger.

My favorite Christmas book isn't a romance. It's 101 Dalmatians. Not the Disney version. The original. It takes place over Christmas. I've read it every year since I was a kid. :)

I find It's a Wonderful Life too depressing. My all-time favorite Christmas movie is Christmas in Connecticut. Again, the original. With Barbara Stanwyck. Not that dreadful Dyan Cannon remake.

My favorite Christmas cookie are the Russian tea cakes my mom makes. Yummy!

With you, there's no pretending -- you believe in the magic of the holiday season with all of your heart. Your friendliness and generosity impress even the Scroogiest, Grinchiest naughty-listers. You're always rushing around on holiday errands, picking out presents, and preparing decorations, but no matter how busy you get, you have an endless supply of good cheer. Smiling's your favorite, but you're also a fan of hugs.

Hey! I'm not the only Clark Griswald, Judy got it too!

I'm SO not a Clark. Well, I do want everyone to have a good time, but I am SO not competitive.

Good luck on the Contest for the ebook reader!

I'm Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Even if you feel like you don’t fit in, please don't run away to the Island of Misfit Toys just yet. Your friends and family may tease you, but they're about to realize that they really need you around. Without your glowing personality and innate sense of direction, the holidays might as well be cancelled. You're the beacon that guides the rest of us through the darkest, stormiest days of winter. We are totally shouting out with glee that you got this result. Glee, we tell you!

I love It's a Wonderful Life In fact, I have some IAWL ornaments on my tree. Book? I recommend I'm Your Santa by Lori Foster, Karen Kelley and Dianne Castell. I love to bake chocolate and peanutbutter fudge for Christmas.

Anyone have a good Christmas book recommendation for me?

I have the best Christmas romance ever. It's called Some Enchanted Season by Marilyn Pappano. I re-read it every year. It's such a great book. :)

Good luck!
