Recovery Mode and Happy New Year!

I didn't post yesterday because, and I'll be completely honest here, I simply didn't feel like it.

Way back in the summer, taking the two weeks our LASR site was closed for the holidays to rebuild seemed like a good idea. How hard could it be to rebuild the site in that much time?

Well... as it turns out, it's very hard. It wasn't just a matter of sitting down and doing the site work. There were insane numbers of decisions to make that impacted everything. There were people to be notified, graphics to be chosen and created, and more.

So, what ended up happening was that most of the actual site/blog work didn't happen until a few days before the New Year. What ended up happening was that I spent sixteen hour days in front of the computer. I lived, ate, breathed, and slept the LASR website.

Happy New Year to me.

So yesterday was the first day in a week that I didn't *have* to do anything on the computer. Except blog. And my rebellious soul said: NO.

I think the site turned out well. And more, it will do what we were hoping: still give quality information to readers and writers, still have lots of visitors to create worthwhile ad space while giving Judy and I a little bit of a break. Not a big break; we still have plenty to do. But I no longer have new pages to load on daily basis, we no longer have to have certain content ready at a certain time. Ads start on the first and end the final day of the month -- no more keeping track of beginning and end dates.

I have massive numbers of emails in my boxes at LASR and Goddess Fish Promotions that were virtually ignored for several days that I need to catch up on, but once that is done, I might have a little breathing room.

I can write.
I can clean my poor house.
I can cook and bake and can.
In the summer I'll be able to garden again.
I can walk the dog and not feel guilty for taking time away from my work.
I can spend time with my family.
I can even sit down, now and then, and watch something on TV.

The plan is that Judy and I might actually have a little bit of our lives back.

Guess we'll find out as things shake out over the next few weeks.

My plan? To have a wonderful, less stressful, more productive 2012.

Happy New Year. :-)

You Are Gnocchi

You are definitely not the quiet type, and you really don't keep a lot to yourself.

You are responsible and trustworthy. You're always happy to be the accountable one.

You are practical and matter-of-fact. You prefer to take the pragmatic approach.

You are lovable, endearing, and affectionate. People gravitate toward your positive spirit.

About 75% right.

Happy New Year, my friend. I hope the days ahead give you some time to rest, relax and do all the wonderful things on your list.

It is going to be a good year.

After all you've done you're entitled to a break.

LASR looks great. Very clean and functional. Me like.

The Review pages are still too busy for my eyes--but that might be me.

The only thing I'd suggest is adding the Review Pages to the Navigation on all your pages so people don't have to go back to Home.

You have long deserved a break and I hope the new site does everything you want it to!
I am Gnocchi and it, too, is about 75% correct. (It's the first sentence. I am beyond quiet and I keep almost everything to myself.)

I hope you have a fantastic day!
