Fall is definitely here. The days have been warm and sunny, but the moment the sun goes down ... it's COLD. It gets into the 40s at night. My tomatoes are pretty much done -- the cold is causing them to split the moment they are ripe. The few cucumbers I have are growing FAT bottoms (full of seeds). The crabgrass has gone to seed (my neighbors "lawn" is a lovely shade of red).
DH is off for the next five days and this weekend will be the last one in which he takes the boat out. We have a HUGE pile of wood to split that we took down last year, and then we need to go to our across the street neighbor and chop up the trees he had taken down this summer, then haul it over here and stack it up to season for next year. I'll probably pull up my tomatoes and start to get the garden ready for winter, cut down all the perennials that are done blooming. I want to go apple picking soon, and can applesauce this year, but after typing everything else, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed!
I'm going to miss summer, especially since they're predicting near record snowfall again this year. DH is thrilled, since he loves to go snowmobiling, but me? Not so much. I'll be counting the days to April (147 days, in case you were wondering).

One of my favorite things out of the garden is tomatoes and we had few this summer. My husband thinks it's because of the cooler summer nights. We had more rain so that should've helped. I didn't even have any to can this season.
Wow - it is getting cold there at night. We've had it in the 50s to 60s at night.

Wow fall is def up there. It still only gets down to 70 at night. The humidity will be back this weekend and it probably be another 2-3 weeks before we start feeling like fall. Im def ready for it this year. Summer (which is normally my favorite) has been too hot this year. Couldn't enjoy any time outside.

We have tons of very green tomatos in the garden. Late bloomers, I guess. And the corn is ready for picking (my DH tried an ear and said it was awesome). Next year we're going to go for a bigger garden. But we still have Brussels sprouts growing and peppers.
Not ready for winter. I'm so hoping we don't have a repeat of last December. If we do I'm moving in with my mom who has a generator.
