Slip, Sliding Away ....

"The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be" - Marcel Pagnol

It's been an interesting few days. First, weather: Snow Friday -- a lot. Well over a foot. Snow Sunday -- more than they expected. Easily 6 - 7". Today? Ice, Ice Baby. Ugh.

I know spring is around the corner... I just wish it would hurry along. I keep seeing posts on Facebook about people putting in their gardens. I am green with envy.

Funny thing, though, some critter came out and ran around in the snow last night. When I took Dakota out, there were little trails everywhere! I wonder what it was, and what it was doing?

I need to take Dakota to the vet today, too, so I hope the ice changes over to rain early. It's supposed to do so after lunchtime. I won't drive in ice. Snow is bad, but ice is downright deadly.

Those of you whole are friends with me on Facebook already saw that Dakota seems to have kennel cough. She started on Saturday -- sounded like she had something stuck in her throat. But she did it over, and over, and over all day long. Then she woke me early on Sunday coughing. Though she didn't do it much the rest of the day (we kept her quiet) we need to take her in to the doctor.

Here's what kennel cough sounds like, for those of you with dogs:

Was incredibly busy all weekend, but did try to visit some of you. I'm SO behind, but am trying to work my way through the many hundreds of posts in my reader. Hopefully today I'll be able to do so.

How was your weekend?

You Are Sledding

You are a very self-aware person, but you never take yourself too seriously.

You have an ironic view of life and yourself. When things get tough, you can get philosophical.

You are easygoing and easy to please. You love to break out of your comfort zone.

You are too much of a generalist to specialize in anything. There are many fields you dabble in.

Poor baby! I hope she recovers soon.

Do me a favor and ask the vet why Dakota got kennel cough despite getting the vaccine. I know the vaccine doesn't work for a small percentage of dogs, so I'd like to know what's to do if that happens.

I'm beginning to get suspicious. For a vaccine that's supposed to work, I'm starting to hear about too many vaccinated dogs who got kennel cough.

Speedy recovery, Dakota.

I'm so sorry Dakota is under the weather. The cough sounds terrible. I hope this is quickly and painlessly cured.

Had a quiet weekend. Sewing, clearing snow and beginning some pansies indoors near the fireplace. I've never grown pansies from seed so this should be interesting.

Hoping your roads are clear by doctor time!

Poor Dakota, I hope she recovers soon. And you drive safe, missy.

We’ve been getting rained on all weekend. Last night, we had a full brown thunderstorm. Spring is right around the corner, but that also means wet muddy paws every time my baby comes home.

Maria: my agility instructor mentioned that the vaccine covers the most common strains, but there are other less common ones out there (kind of like how you can get the flu even when you get a flu shot).

Even so, I'm going to ask him.

Sarita: Pansies from seed! I've never done them that way either. I'll be interested in knowing how they do.

Angelina: Yeah ... Spring in NH = Mud Season, so I completely understand (esp when all this snow melts!).

I can't listen to the cough here at the daytime situation, but I'm glad you're taking Dakota to the vet.

re quiz: I'm sledding and it's half accurate.

My weekend was quiet. I spent the day organizing my book collection. Oh did you create shelves on your nook? I'm thinking of doing that but I don't know what category yet.

Have a good MOnday.

Poor Dakota, hope the Vet can help her feel better. We went printer shopping this weekend and I placed mulch outside in my bush bed.

My results were Sledding as well. It's about 80%.

I hope it warms up for you there soon! Best wishes for the Vet visit!

Hugs to you and Dakota. I hope the vet can get her all fixed up so she's feeling better!

Poor Dakota! I hope she's feeling better very soon.

And I wonder what was running around out in the snow, too!

Dru: I have created shelves on my Nook. I have them by author (if it's an author I buy more than one book by), genre, and sometimes by publisher (Carina Press, for one -- because for whatever reason, I can remember which authors are published by them). I also have one shelf called "To Review" that's my top shelf, so I have those stories right in front of my face! *G*

Brandy: MULCH! I'm so jealous. The only mulch I have right now is snow. *G*

Melissa: Dakota's actually doing pretty well, but not happy to have to be kept quiet.

Tori: I wish I'd had a video camera outside last night -- those tracks were just CRAZY. It would have to be something small and nocturnal. Mice? ::shrugs::
