NaNo News and a New Challege Request

"Imagination grows by exercise, and contrary to common belief, is more powerful in the mature than in the young." - W. Somerset Maugham

My DH's cold is lingering ... but DD and I are already pretty well over ours. Mine never got unbearably bad, and now it's down to a little bit of a sniffle. YAY.

So far, DD has been keeping on track with school. Having the husband home every day has been interesting, but she's been getting up with us in the morning (he leaves to go hunting at 5:30 a.m.) and starting school almost immediately, so she's pretty well done by the time he gets home.

So far it's working.

I've been getting up around 4 a.m. to write and so far that's working, too. This first bit has been pretty simple since I already had it plotted out. But starting tomorrow, things are a little more ambiguous and getting my word count will be harder. Geoff already messed things up for me, though. I'd intended to make him a boy from the wrong side of the tracks who made good. I loved the idea that he was hiding his past that way. I had BIG plans for his biological father to show back up his life ... but -- noooooo....

Turns out Geoff's father was killed in a car accident with his mistress after driving the family into debt and his mother off-loaded Geoff on her parents and then drank herself to death.

Who knew?

In any case, I've used all but one of the words you guys gave me, so I'm ready for another challenge. First, though, the sentences with the challenge words:

Still, he’d be more comfortable clothed. He’d never been one to flaunt his body, no matter that he did his best to stay in shape. (from Anno)

All dollhouse sized, they were incredibly intricate and looked to be the makings of a Thanksgiving dinner, right down to the cornucopia that was no bigger than the tip of his finger. (from Dru)

Geoff trailed off and took a breath before he lost his nerve. He’d never been one for such extemporaneous behavior. (from Ceri)

He fought to not scrunch his face in consternation despite feeling as though he was the second to last kid chosen for the team who didn’t want to be the last kid chosen and waited. (from Anno)

Not out of affection, something there had been a dearth of in that family, but out of a sense of responsibility. (from Groovy)

Are you and your sisters always this rambunctious? (from Maria -- I still need to use rigmarole)

For the next challenge -- give me an object to include in a scene. It can be anything from the Eiffel Tower to a dust bunny. Go ahead, have fun and give my brain something to chew on!

Accomplishment is in Your Big Picture

You're not sure how long it will take to get where you're going... but you'll feel amazing once you've arrived.

You've got an uphill journey ahead of you, and you can't even really see what's around the corner.

And while you have your destination in the back of your mind, you are going to enjoy every turn of this road your on.

You're gaining strength, skills, and insight as you travel. And you won't be the same person at the end of the trip.

That's about right!

ROTFL! I was on the phone last night with one of my friends. My friend's daughter just came home with a big bag from Victoria's Secret. HAHAHAH
My friend grabbed the bag and started describing all the 'goodies' .... one of which was a Leapord print Thong with a bow and a teensy bit of lace. She's going to sneak it to the church fair and show me. A mother's job is to embarass her daughter - ::snicker:: - and I think it would be a FUN "object" to find in the story.

A leapard print thong with a bow and tiny lace trim. **vbg**

Okay, so I can't top a leopard print thong, so let's go in the OTHER direction. A pair of granny panties :::wink:::

I can't wait to see how you incorporate the thong in your story.

Hmm, looking on my desk...ooh I know, a "copy holder."

Peace is in Your Big Picture

It's likely you've finally arrived on some long sought peace in your life. It's about time.

You are at the end of a chaotic time, and you can feel the your world quieting down around you.

Take advantage of this lull, and allow yourself to let go. Enjoy the calm.

Soon enough, life will be busy and crazy. Savor the rest that has been given to you.

I like it.

Object: Dust

Yes, I have to clean house. Why do you ask?

OK... it was the first thing that came to mind, and it's certainly not as inspiring as a leopard print, lace-trimmed thong, but I'd be interested in seeing what any of your characters could do with a dill pickle spear.

Hmm, how about an antique magnifying glass. What? *g* Though I have to say, the leopard print lace trimmed thong is truly fun!

Rest is in Your Big Picture
Unlike most people, you've reached the end of your destination for now. And it's time for some well deserved rest.
You are excited to take a break and hibernate. You need some downtime.
And once your rest is over, you'll emerge ready for a new and exciting journey.
At times, you look forward to your future travels, but for now, you're very happy to be where you are.

Yeah..., resting is not on the agenda right now.

Hope you have a delightful day!

It's always startling when you have things planned one way and your characters inform you you're wrong.

An object... a stuffed pig. :)
