Fuzzy Friday

"I wouldn't dream of working on something that didn't make my gut rumble and my heart want to explode." -- Kate Winslet

I went to bed late -- was up chatting at The Wild Rose Press for a bit. Their contemporary authors were in the chat room. It was good. I can't always make the "Weekly Happy Hour" every Tuesday because it's late (for me) -- 9:00 pm.

So, anyway, *yawn*, I slept until 5 a.m.

DH is home today. In fact, DH will be home on Friday's from now on. He's working four ten hour days in order to have a three day weekend. I'm a bit ambivalent about this -- it's nice that he doesn't have five days of a wicked bad commute, we're saving on gas, he's in a far better mood because of it... BUT...

As I've mentioned, I am a creature of habit. I love routine. And I'm stressed when I don't have one. His presence at home messes with my routine. In fact, DD and I don't have school on Friday's -- we're opting to NOT observe any long school holiday's to make up for it (so, no Christmas Break, no Easter Break, etc). DD like this idea (I imagine she won't be *quite* so happy when we school into July *G*), but I don't deal with it well. Last week, the stress got to me so badly that I was in bed Saturday at 7:30 and slept through the night.

I suppose a shrink would have a field day with me! LOL...

Maybe DD can help DH work on the upstairs and I can... write? What a concept! That would be good.

==============================

I know I wasn't going to mention Pillar Place again, but I have to share this -- our last two pillars ended up as handicapped butterflies. They only had four legs instead of six -- it was the strangest thing. Because of this, they couldn't cling to their chrysalis's in order to dry their wings. One hatched while we were gone, fell and his wings hardened all bent up and funky. He is in butterfly heaven :-(

One managed to cling to the netting on the side of the box. I didn't think he would fly and he couldn't cling to anything else -- clothes, fingers, flowers. I figured he would be a goner, too. He lived in the box (with sliced oranges for food) for a couple days. Every day, I put it outside with the lid off, and brought it back in if he didn't fly. Finally, after a couple days -- he FLEW!

And, we've seen him around yesterday and the day before, wobbling from flower to flower. He's still not steady when he eats, but he flies like a champ and seems to be managing. I'm just tickled. So is DD (who cried, and cried, and cried about the first butterfly).

Now, really, I'm done done with the pillars. Promise.

===========================

I started a new book yesterday by Sharon Shinn. The first book in her Twelve Houses series. I read about it online somewhere and it sounded good.

It is good. I'm excited and hope it stays good! I haven't read a really good book in a while.

Allie mentioned on her blog yesterday about promotional items and what really makes people buy or read your books. I think word-of-mouth is the most powerful thing in sales, good or bad. In fact, I don't think I've read anything in the last six months that wasn't recommended to me in some way.

I also frequently read something because I like the author as he or she appears to be in real life (based on her blog mostly).

I wonder what people who don't know me think when they stumble across THIS blog for the first time? I swear, I don't ramble on and on in my books *G*.

============================

Your Inner Blood Type is Type A

You seem cool and collected, though a bit shy.
You are highly driven and a perfectionist, but that's a side you keep to yourself.
Creative and artistic, you are a very unique person who doesn't quite fit in.
People accept you more than you realize, seeing you as trustworthy and loyal.

You are most compatible with: A and AB

Famous Type A's: Britney Spears and Hitler

Oh, lovely -- I'm lumped in with Britney Spears and Hitler. I don't know which is the bigger insult...

Hey, I updated our other author contest page at LASR yesterday with a few more great contests -- go check it out. Free books, free candy, free bath goodies! Woot!

This might just sound insane, but I enjoyed your pillar posts. We had the same thing happen with a Monarch about three weeks ago.

She came out of her Chrysalis (which is absolutely gorgeous if you have never seen one up close) and for some reason her wings never opened correctly. She could walk really well, but she would never fly. We had her until a few days ago and then, yes, she went up to butterfly heaven.

I loved your blog!!!

I'm back! :) And I got:

Your Inner Blood Type is AB!

Your personality is hard to define - you're very unconventional.
And even if your personality could be defined, it would be completely different next week!
Outgoing and shy, sensitive and thoughtless, you tend to have a very split personality.
This makes you unpredictable. You can be a total angel - and a total devil.

You are most compatible with: everyone!

Famous Type AB's: Jackie Chan and Marilyn Monroe

Well, those are better companions than Britney Spears and Hitler!

My book buying decision largely depends on recommendations from friends too. :)

erm... actually more like "influenced" by recommendations by friends.

1. First of all, your real-life personality is pretty much what's reflected in your blog (that's a good thing), for anyone who's wondering :)

2. No, I won't mind if you cheer for the Rockies in the playoffs, only because I know my Indians are the better team;

3. You should dedicate Liv to all your writer friends/support groups who've helped you get to the point of publication. Not that I have a vested interest, or anything...

Word of mouth definitely influences my decision to try a new-to-me author.

hey Marianne - I didn't know that you were writing for Samhain too! How exciting. When is your book coming out? What's it called? What's it about?

Your blog reflects YOU. Don't worry about it.
As for the quiz, that is one freaky quiz! I, too, received type A and am chagrined by the results.

Soon, the hubs 4 day work week will become routine, it'll just take a while.

Have a fun weekend.
