Monday, Monday... I Love This Day!

Just remember, if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off. ~Author Unknown

I love Mondays. It means I'm back in my routine...ahh...

So... the weekend weather was a bust, but this week looks like it'll be nice. I have big plans for pooper scooping (how can ONE smallish dog make so many piles???) and raking. Woo! Part-ah time at the old ranchero.

I was thinking about doing a meme, but didn't like all the questions. One (well, two -- but the other was about the weather) really made me consider. It was:

When was the last time you were afraid and why?

I'm not a fraidy cat. I'm not afraid of animals or bugs or noises. So, I had to really think... and realized that my only significant fear is for my daughter. And it's sort of a constant hum under the day-to-day acts of simply living.

My BIL asked me, a long time ago when my SIL was pregnant with their first baby: what's it like being a parent? One of the things I told him was that ... you're always afraid. Not in a conscious or crippling way, but it's just always there (a little like the electronic buzz in your home that you don't realize is there until the power is out and it's gone) -- a worry of all the things that could happen to your child.

That's not just me, is it?

My only other fear is that I'll NEVER move out of this state. Ha.

Sadly, no writing was accomplished yesterday. The weather didn't cooperate -- it ended up being overcast, windy and drizzly -- so DH stayed home and puttered. Actually, essentially having two days away from the computer put me so far behind website maintenance at The Long and the Short of It, that I spent most of the day trying to play catch-up anyway. Today!!! Today is the day I will write!

You're
Easter Island!

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do. So, since you were so lonely, you decided to make up a bunch of friends to entertain yourself. Rather than being classic imaginary friends, they had some real strength and substance to them, and have shown themselves to stand the test of time. There has been much discussion of your name, but you generally dislike its Christian implications. You wish you didn't feel quite so chilly. But you would not feel so all alone; everybody must get stones.

Take the Country Quiz II
at the Blue Pyramid

Um... NO... **shakes head**... Not even close... sheesh...

Easter Island? No way! Sounds like a re-try is in order...

Hope you find time for yourself today. We have sunshine & the forecast is for temperatures in the 60s -- I hope some of the same makes it your way!

I got:

You're Peru!
You like to shake, rattle, and roll as much as the next person. And you've been doing so for a long time. You used to be a big fan of running, but have slowed down a bit in recent years. Many are surprised at how influenced you are by Japanese culture. You have been known to go by "Cuz". People really like taking pictures in front of a very specific part of you.

I am also Peru (supposedly). I've NEVER, EVER been a fan of running. I used to pray that I would pass out in gym class so I wouldn't have to, you know, breathe hard or anything! I'm more into China than Japan - mostly because I pray often for Chinese Christians as they endure persecution. I am Cuzless. AND WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT LAST SENTENCE MEAN?????????

I used to love storms but ever since we had that tornado that destroyed half the town in 2006, I get a little freaked out by them.

You're Haiti!
You do that voodoo that you do so well. But seriously. You're into voodoo. This is just one of several perspectives on the world that separate you from what most folks would consider to be normal. But you go way back to the old school with the original discoveries and the sailing and so forth. You've fallen on awfully hard times lately, and were going to be a "project" for some powerful friend. But they got bored and left. Contrary to popular belief, you are not a hata.

LOL! Yeah. Right. Uh-huh. ROFL!

Sounds like you had a busy weekend. Hope you've got sunny skies today. I wished that for you. :)

And no, you are not the only one to feel fear for your child. It's natural. At least for a good parent, which you obviously are. I fear every day when my teen goes off to school that there might be a school shooting or some such thing. And we live in a pretty docile town. *shrug* Fear is just par for the course of parenting. :)

You're Andorra!
Live long and prosper! Or at least live long. You have always seemed destined for great things despite your tiny stature and almost invisible presence. While some think of you as practically a newborn, you're actually quite the old soul. And you've developed ways to stay popular, primarily consisting of giving things away. While you enjoy the sun, you're still a little scared of basking.

Some yes, some no. I don't think anyone who has actually met me would consider my presence invisible.

And, I'm ashamed to admit, I had to go look up Andorra on a map. Sheesh. We better get back to Mapping The World By Heart soon.

More and more mondays are definitely welcome here. Hubs goes back to work and my schedule can run smoothly. *g*

Yes, there is always a low level fear for my children. I love and adore them and of course fear for them.

Um, the quiz? Is totally funky. I was Venezuala. WTHECK? *shakes head*

Have a good day, hope you get some writing done!

I like Monday because it's the start of a new week and adventure.

Here's a question re: dog poop - since I live in the city, I know those that pick up toss in garbage. If your dog poops in your backyard, and you scoop up the piles, do you put in garbage or reuse on property?

You are SO not the only parent who feels that way. I feel like I could easily become neurotic if I didn't think kids needed to be kids. *sigh*

You're Armenia!
While you've come to believe in euthanasia, it's about the only kind of death you can tolerate. You've been made to face a lot of unpleasantness in your existence, and this was even before your trip to Fresno. While you've known what you've been through for a long time, the public recognition of your life story has caused quite a stir. You're starting to see history repeat itself. You take a special pleasure in eating turkey.

None of this makes a lick of sense. Um.. yeah ok.
