Out of Focus

"If you chase two rabbits, both will escape" — Unknown

Why is it, when you want to focus on one project, another starts to jab at you? I'm trying to make sure I'm as ready for NaNoWriMo as I can be (working on scene cards and jotting down basic ideas for stuff I want to see happen) when WHAM!!! I figured out how to fix "Return to Stiller Creek". It's a MAJOR change, and will require a complete rewrite of the entire story, and it won't get out of my head.

I have less than two weeks until NaNo. I even officially signed up for this year. I want to work on "Drive Me Crazy", dang it. So, Stiller Creek -- get thee behind me!!!

We won't talk about how much I've also been thinking about my fantasy. I love my fantasy. It's so freaking hard to write, but I think it's one of my best stories (she said modestly).

FOCUS, where are you?

DD is going through some funky phaze. She's totally unable to focus (maybe there's something in my house? A non-focus virus?) and won't sit still. She started school yesterday, sat for about 45 mins then popped up. "I'm antsy, I'm going to take the dog out to play."

Uh, no. It doesn't work that way. Sit down and do math.

And, oddly enough, she's too busy with school to do her chores, but has plenty of time to read or jump rope.

Uh, no.

So, yesterday, she lost .... everything. No TV, no books, no dog, no outside until ALL her school and chores are done. Amazingly, school was finished in record time, and the dishwasher was emptied without me having to ask more than once. Incredible.

We'll see how today goes.

You Are Dumplings

You are cute, polite, and considerate. You are well known for your generosity, and you truly love to share.

You have a real style and presence about you. You know how to take the simplest thing and make it look chic.

You tend to order carefully and conservatively off the menu of life. Simplicity is your motto, and you don't like to take on too much at once.

You are the type of person who does one thing at a time, really immersing yourself in the moment. You detest multitasking.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA..... This couldn't be MORE wrong! *snort*

NaNo, NaNo, NaNo...

It's haunting all of us, isn't it? But, the funny thing is, we're still jazzed to see November 1st roll around! Weird, just weird.

I love it that you've got so many good ideas invading your mind. Make notes, so you'll be able to remember them later. I'm trying to remember to do that here...but I've got to make a note to make a note. It's not working for me, but
maybe it'll work for you.

Thanks for the reminder about last year's NaNo. I needed it. Now I feel calmer, less stressed. I'm just going to sit back, relax and write a book. That's it. No pressure. You really helped! :-)

You always worry, and you always get it done. So there.

Do make a note on STiller Creek. You will feel better knowing it is there waiting for you, and it will be wonderful.

I came up fried rice, and it was SO WRONG, I didn't even bother to show it here.

With two weeks to go, maybe you could work on stiller Creek one day, then NaNoWriMo the next and back and forth until Nov. But that all depends on what else you have to do in that time. Sigh. Oh, well. Good luck with both!

Doesn't it always work like that. If found solutions to things when working on something else.

LOL amazing how quickly stuff gets done when the law is put down LOL.

I agree with everybody, make notes!

You Are Egg Rolls

You are outgoing, lively, and a ton of fun. You enjoy social gatherings of all types and sizes.

You love to joke, laugh, and tell stories. You tend to be the center of it all, but you never call attention to yourself.

You tend to order liberally and non-discriminately off the menu of life. You'll take a little of everything, and enjoy every bite.

You're the type of person who parties hard without any regrets the next morning. If anything, you're ready to get up and do it again.
This is so wrong on every level - I'm the complete opposite.

Have a good Tuesday.

I'm with Dru and everyone else. Notes!
I know exactly what you're going through with your daughter. Mine has been that way lately and it's driving me batty. Unfortunately teenagers act as though they have the right to do whatever they want. It's a battle of wills.

I am a dumpling, too. And yes, I do prefer to handle one thing at a time, but I don't mind lists to multi-task. *G*

I hope you're having a great day!

I think that no-focus virus has hit me too....

Oh you sound like me! I feel like I could go in a dozen different directions. I still feel like I'm somewhat copping out with my decision to do a rewrite for a story for my NaNo, like that's going to be an easy way out instead of writing something completely new to me. Well, I have a bit of time to decide. Guess I should sign up.

Good luck with the Nano prep!

When my kidlets are antsy, I have them stand up and do their work. That way they can move around, but still write and get assignments done. It helps them not just have to sit all the time!
