What, When, Where, Why, How with Melissa Blue

Welcome today, author Melissa Blue!

What is your least favorite food?

My least favorite food... Now, this is a tough question because I love food, will try anything once, and my favorite part of Disney World is Epcot's World Showcase because I can eat food from any of about 20 different countries. But, if I have to chose one least favorite food it would be Sloppy Joes. My mom and I used to go to war about Sloppy Joes, it was the only thing I would refuse to eat, and spent hours in my room trying to make my cat (Oscar) eat it. Eventually we reched a compromise, mom made me a hamburger as long as I reminded her ahead of time.

When did you start writing?

I started writing when I was seven years old. I read "Meet Felicity" an American Girl book and didn't like the ending. I rewrote my own version of the end. I probably still have it somewhere, I'm never throw anything away.

Where did you go on your first date?

For my first REAL date my boyfriend and I met at the high school girls volleyball game. We watched for about fifteen minutes before going to a McDonald's. Romantic, eh? Coincidently this was the night of my first kiss **wink**wink** I was fourteen. My first date with my husband occured when I was sixteen (yup, people, married my high school sweetheart) and we went to see "Behind Enemy Lines." If it hadn't been a double date we'd have had the entire theater to ourselves.

Why doesn't MacDonald's sell hot dogs?

I always figured MacDonald's didn't sell hot dogs because Hardeez does :) As a side note, I am partial to the hotdog, the best pet I ever had was a miniature dachsund. His name was Willy, but we just called him Weiner.

How long do you want to live?

Oh, wow, this is a loaded question for a registered nurse. I work in a hospital and have met people of every different age, illness, and walk of life. I once took care of a 4 day old infant and a 100 year old woman in the same day. Yes, that is a true story, I'm not sure who was cuter the baby or the little old lady. The only way I know to answer this question is to say I want to live as long as my mind is good.

Living in beautiful Big Sky Country, Montana I combine two careers as a registered nurse and romantic fiction author. I am a hopeless romantic, enjoy reading, movies, food, reading, my family, the outdoors, reading & of course food. Other hobbies include the study of American History, an area of primary interest is the Civil War, and the interest reflects in many of my stories. Remember to look for my debut novel "Without Regret My Love" coming in June 2009 from Champagne Books.

Hi Melissa,

Enjoyed your interview, especially the part about being a registered nurse and taking care of a 4 yr. old and 100 year old all in the same day.

Your book cover is so gorgeous and sounds wonderful. I will definitely put it on my summer list.

Tell me true, Melissa, do you REALLY like food? Ha!

Anyway, sounds like you may be able to give up nursing and just do the romance author gig what with those 2 fantastic reviews you've already gotten for Without Regret, My Love.

You've been teasing me with excerpts for months now. Can't wait to read the whole book.

There is something very special about getting to know the woman behind the book. We enjoyed hearing all about you, and especially liked how your profession allowed you to take care of a child and an elder woman all in one day. That is a cherished experience. Your book is obviously a winner. We've read the reviews. Fabulous!

Hey, all! Thanks for leaving the comments.

Nope, I don't do sloppy Joe's, unless of course I am a guest at someone's house and they make them. I would NEVER be rude and say anything.

Wouldn't it be tempting to give up nursing to write full-time... I tell you sometimes it's difficult to balance the rewards with the pitfalls of the healthcare profession. Although, I love the people far too much to give it up entirely.

I'm thrilled to have received such stellar reviews. To be perfectly honest reviews is a subject I've been worrying over for months!

Hi Melissa! Nice to meet you and fun reading your interview! I'm the opposite with food, I often am hesitate to try new foods. Yep imagine when I was young and how I removed chopped onions in potato salad etc, LOL. I love the cover of your book and too love reading historical romance. I rarely find much set during the Civil War.
