My Christmas Prep (or lack thereof)

Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall. ~Larry Wilde, The Merry Book of Christmas

For the first year, ever, I don't already have my Christmas cards in the mail. Yikes!! I don't even have them pulled out (I always buy them the day after Christmas for the next year). Shame on me. I also don't have my shopping done -- another first. And last night, about midnight (when my sick DD woke me up to ask what she could do to stop coughing, poor baby) I lay awake thinking that I needed stocking stuffers and I didn't know when I'd be able to go get them without DD tagging along.

Oh the drama.

At least we got our tree this weekend. We'll decorate it today. Sadly, there are no packages to put beneathe it (Mom, I'll wrap the ones you sent so it's not empty under there!).

What about you? Are you a last minute shopper or card-sender? Are YOU ready for Christmas??

Have you entered Allie's contest for her latest book. "Lost In Paradise"? If you haven't, skedaddle over there -- you won't be sorry to win that book, I'm telling you!!

You Are a Minimal Christmas Tree

You're not a total Scrooge, but you feel no need to go overboard at Christmas.
Less is more, and your Christmas reflects refined quality.

Yep... that's about right...

I'm really chaotic - I get all the shopping done that I can, but usually there are things that I forget and then get stuck the last minute. This year I'm stuck because I'm part of two gift exchanges and haven't received my info for the people I have to buy for. I also have to make and pack meringues for my DH's side of the family. And we won't do our decorating until mid-December.

I insist on taking my holidays one at a time. No thinking about or preparing for Christmas until Thanksgiving is properly over and done with. That means all the leftovers are eaten and the kitchen is cleaned up. And no tree until the first weekend in December.

I also think that if people don't want books for Christmas, there's something wrong with them. That simplifies Christmas shopping. I just head to Border's, load up on something for everyone and then trundle down the street to a cozy cafe where I sip hot chocolate and read a few of the books I happened to find for myself while shopping for others.

Since the holiday spirts took a hold of me early, I have all the decorations that I'm going to do, the tinsel tree and the two Hallmark ornaments.

I'm not a last minute shopper; I know more or less what I'm getting people and most are gift certificates to their favorite stores.

I use to mail a lot of Christmas cards; now, I don't send too many, preferring to send e-cards.

I am a Minimal Christmas Tree which is so true.

Have a good day.

Every November I have to fight off my own personal Scrooge. She lives inside me all year and comes out on Black Friday. This year she's trying to talk me into grabbing a log from the back yard and sticking that in the corner of the living room.

"It's a mini tree, kids. Really it is. Just use you're imagination."

She gets more ridiculous with each passing year. :-)

A Christmas tree? And Christmas cards? Are you kidding? No way, not until December, at least. And shopping...well, I've started it. I have lists, anyway, of what I want to get people.

How on earth does anyone get organized for Christmas that far in advance?

Maybe it's because I'm a December baby. If I leap into the holiday season too early, I'll skip my own celebration altogether :)

***You Are a Bright Christmas Tree***

For you, the holidays are all about fun and seasonal favorites.
You are into all things Christmas, even if they're a little tacky.

So my tree goes up tomorrow, I think. And it'll be ecards for me this year.

I can't do anything Christmas related until after Dec. 1 due to a deadline, but I did order photo Christmas cards from Costco this weekend. They are all ready to be picked up. So relieved that's done!
