Booking It Multiple Times

A book is to me like a hat or coat - a very uncomfortable thing until the newness has been worn off. ~Charles B. Fairbanks

It's Thursday, so let's book it:

Do you have multiple copies of any of your books?

No.

If so, why? Absent-mindedness? You love them that much? First Editions for the shelf, but paperbacks to read?

See above.

If not, why not? Not enough space? Not enough money? Too sensible to do something so foolish?
I have been known to read a book until it falls apart, at which point I'll buy another one... but I don't see the point in keeping more than one copy. Can anyone tell me why you would?

WAIT. Stop the presses!!! I DO have two copies of one book: One of Nora Roberts In The Garden trilogy books (I don't recall which one). I had purchased the book, and then a friend of mine (HI PAM!) saw her at a conference and got one autographed for me. Nora wrote MY NAME. That one is on my autographed shelf and will never be read. I touch it now and then, hoping the magic will rub off.

And, hey, if you're looking for something to buy two of, you can check out the book reviews here.

Time for day eight of:

You know, I didn't love "My Best Friend's Wedding", but I've watched it several times for one scene. In the theater, I died laughing and even now it makes me chuckle.

I give you -- my favorite scene (and now that I've found it on YouTube, I can come back and visit it whenever I want):

=================

No news on Pillar Place.

==================

Got my galley's in the email inbox this morning and will get those done ASAP. The DD (that's "dear dog" not "dear daughter") was restless and whiny all night again. I think something was outside, because I finally took her downstairs and crashed on the couch, but opened the back door cuz it was so freakin' hot inside. She galloped over and whined, so I joined her. And sure enough, something was crashing around out there... it sounded like they were on my DD's (yes, that's "dear daughter") swingset, but I turned the like on and didn't see any glowing eyeballs.

Raccoons?

Bears?

Deer?

The Boogieman?

You decide.

Regardless, I am once again... tired.

Have a lovely Thursday.

I have a couple of hardback illustrated versions of books I love. These are verions I can't really carry around with me reading and are so beautiful I love them. Other than that I don't really do duplicates (apart from by muistake!).

Hmm... I'd say raccoons. But could be bear. Oh, doesn't that give you the warm fuzzies?

Another good video clip. I didn't like that movie. Julia Roberts wasn't likable and I don't like it when there's no real HEA. But that's just me.

Hi Marianne, like you, I don't have duplicates. BUT, if the Bible is counted, then yes, I have a few copies...

I'll be going shopping for some books this weekend, hopefully. :)

Happy BTT!

PS: I still owe you one LASR review...

I'm pretty cheap and although I've been tempted, I'll keep a book until it falls apart too. I'm thinking of Persuasion, which has the first couple chapters falling out of it. Might be time for a new one.

As a long time teacher, I do have a couple of books I have multiple copies of, and they're not even my favorites (well, one is, one isn't).

I hope you can catch a decent night's sleep SOON!

If it is raccoons, Lord help you. We have a family of eight that live out behind our house that use our trash cans as an all night buffet. Not even chaining the lids keeps the little buggers out.

If that's the best part of that movie, I think I'll stick with watching the cool parts of The Hulk over and over.

I collected some first and early editions of my favorite book of all times. Plus an extra paperback set for loan outs. Thus the multiple copies.

Diesel,

There are good parts in The Hulk?

Ceri,

I don't like the movie either, but something about this clip makes me giggle.

Rebecca,

I'm inclined to think it's a bear -- since he's hit us a few times in the past.

Our book situation is totally out of control: duplicates, triplicates, and, in some cases, worse. Blame it on age, forgetfulness, greed, whatever. We love books, and, boy, we've got 'em.

As for your mystery visitor, I'm betting on raccoons. Pesky things!

I love You Tube as you know from reading my blog, Marianne, and that is one of my fave scenes of the movie too. Did you know the original movie had a different ending? Julia ends up dancing at the wedding with a handsome blonde guy if i remember right, but audiences wanted her to end up with Rupert even though his character was gay. Of course, that ending is classic!

Since you didn't see anybody or anything, maybe it was the Invisible Man. *g*

I vote for raccoons too. A bear would be too big to miss. *g*
I don't own multiple copies of books, besides the Bible, either.
Sorry to hear you're so tired, hope you're able to get some rest soon.

The Invisible Man. LOL. Anyway, besides the bible, I would go bonkers with multiple copies.

I have read some good responses favoring them though. Happy BTT!

There's always one duplicate. LOL.

I don't keep two copies of books, except for the bible and I just checked and I have 3 different versions.

I think it was a raccoon, even though if you didn't see anything, a bear could blend in the dark.

I hope you had a good Thursday and was able to get some rest.

I do have duplicates, thanks to my short memory, or otherwise the publishers printed an older book with a new cover!

Happy belated BTT!

I love that scene, too. Actually, I loved just about every scene with Rupert Everett--he was absolutely wonderful. I've always loved that outfit of Julia Roberts', too. Now that I think of it, we saw that movie with my uncle years and years ago, and he laughed out loud at this scene. Today would have been his birthday, so thanks for the reminder!

Oh, and I only have a couple duplicates--mostly because I have newer, "good" copies of books I've read literally to bits, but can't bear to part with the tattered versions. And one that I bought on vacation because I was so in the mood to read this one, particular book and didn't want to wait until I got home!
