Booking it...

If you go into a room and find it full of books - even without taking them from the shelves they seem to speak to you, to bid you welcome. ~William Ewart Gladstone

I know, I know... I said I'd lay off the meme's, but for a dozen reasons (including the fact that I need to wake DH in fifteen minutes) I'm doing this one. At least it's about books!

Booking Through Thursday

How many books would you say you read in an average month?

Between us, DD and I currently have have 103 books checked out from the library. We probably split that pretty closely in half, and I'll most likely read them all. I get them for four weeks (a homeschooling perk!), so I'll estimate that I read somewhere between 30 - 50 books a month. Yes. Really. And my DD reads more than I do. Reading a lot, and reading quickly, runs in the family. My mom reads faster than I do.

In a year?

I didn't know this was going to be a math problem! Okay... if you're driving with me and have 30 books in your lap and we're traveling at 60 mph and the library is 10 miles away, how long will it take us to drive to and from the library two times a week?

Wait! That's not the right word problem...let's try again.

Okay, if you read 30 books a month (I'll use the low end of the scale) and there are 12 months in the year, how many books do you read a year? Yes, Virginia, that would be approximately (3x12=36, put that zero back.... ) THREE HUNDRED SIXTY!

Over the last five years?

5x360= 1800

Wow. That's a lot.

The last 10?

3600 -- geez. I need to get a life.
Anyone care to join me?

LOL - you and the math problem, I'm chuckling over it...I hate to admit it but math was not my favorite subject ;)

But wow you read 1800 books in 5 years?! That whole lot. None of my family read, except for me. Well..my two sisters did read when they were younger but not too much anymore. I'm the only one in the family who kept interest in the reading

Happy Booking Through Thursday! Here is Mine!

I'll pass, thanks. Too much math. *g* I'll settle for saying I read a LOT. Usually at least one book every day or two days. Depends on the length. The book I'm reading right now (Spider Dance by Carole Nelson Douglas) is longer and it's taking me a little longer to finish it.

My mouth is still hanging open at the fact that you can read 30-50 books a MONTH! A MONTH! Good grief, I am in total awe, and I must say, just a week bit jealous too!

Great meme, loved reading your answers. Have a great day, and Happy Reading!

Tori,

Thank you for making me feel like a little less of a freak for reading so much! I was beginning to think I was the only one!

Before reading this I thought I might possibly be reading too much (if there is such a thing), but now I'm not so sure! A book a day is amazing - and a little enviable.
