Last night I was exhausted, went to bed and then couldn't sleep. I HATE that. After a couple hours, I finally tried to bore myself to death. I usually start by thinking up names (M & F, A- Z) and typically fall asleep before I hit the end. Didn't this time. Next I opted for foods, A - Z and got so hung up on "N" I couldn't sleep. I finally settled for Necco Wafers, which aren't really food, but you do put them in your mouth, chew and swallow. Why can't I think of a food that starts with "N"?
In any case, I did finally crash, but I'm a little dopey this a.m.
What do you do when you can't sleep, but are completely exhausted?

I gave my latest heroine a grandmother. She's a sweet old lady who's beginning to get a little forgetful. She lives with my heroine in a loft over the business and I think Zach is going to fall in love with grandma first.
I still need an animal of some sort. No story is complete without one... but I haven't decided what or who owns it yet. I'm sure something will show up as I write, lol...

My friend, Judy, was telling me how she plotted out her garden yesterday. She has her seeds started and I'm so jealous! Of course, she's in Georgia so her growing season starts a little earlier than mine. I can't even start my seeds until April... I wanted to start them the first waxing moon of April, which is April 15th (the day after the new moon), but I think I'll wait until April 20th. Planting by the moon phases is something my mom taught me, but which old time gardeners swore by. I figure since their lives depended on it and they couldn't run to the local grocery store if their crops flopped, it might be good advice to take.
I'm ready spring... come out, come out wherever you are!

Your Face Says You're Energetic |
At first glance, people see you as down to earth and reliable. Overall, your true self is passionate and physical. With friends, you seem dramatic, lively, and quick to react. In love, you seem mysterious and interesting. In stressful situations, you seem cheerful and optimistic. |
I was doing good until that last line... cuz, uh... no.

Agh! I hate not being able to fall asleep. It used to happen with some regularity when I was in corporate America. It was all stress. I couldn't shut off my brain.
There was not much that would help me short of prescription sleeping pills. Ambien worked the best for me. No sleeping pill hangover.
Much as I hate to take drugs, sometimes I had to bite the bullet. My days (even now) start no later than 5am. If I don't get enough sleep, I am worse than a troll with a migraine.
When I can't fall asleep, I try to find something boring on TV and hopefully that'll put me to sleep.
Sorry you didn't get much sleep. My problem is I wake up between 1 and 3 and can't go back to sleep. I can't turn my mind off. Sometimes my handicapped daughter wakes me up because she's a night owl or my hubby's snoring. I've tried so many things so I can go back to sleep. I should get up and write, I guess.
My grandma has a beagle. Ya might try one of those in your story. I usually concentrate on breathing and count to fall asleep, but nothing helps me get back to sleep once I'm awake in the middle of the night.
I have issues sleeping and have a sleep aid when it becomes too much and I HAVE to rest. It really does suck. ;-(
When I can't sleep I either read or watch QVC, that usually puts me to sleep. *G* If, for some reason, that doesn't work I get up and bake. I hope you get some rest today.
Have a good day!
I eat when I can't sleep - carbs, protein and milk, but nothing too heavy. Cetainly not Nachos, which start with "N".
N = nura (you're welcome *g*)
I couldn't get to sleep last night either. I hate when that happens.
I can get to sleep, but can't stay asleep. The other night I came out on the couch, found a movie on TV that I've seen 100 times and it relaxed me so much I was able to go back to sleep.
I love that your hero is going to fall for the grandmother first.
