Cats and Warmer Weather

Your cat will never threaten your popularity by barking at three in the morning. He won't attack the mailman or eat the drapes, although he may climb the drapes to see how the room looks from the ceiling. ~Helen Powers

Was checking out the weather for the next few days, because Piglet on Sarita's blog mentioned the "S" word.

I was relieved to see that, not only are the NOT predicting snow... but it's warming up! Yesterday was so bitterly cold, I couldn't spend two minutes outside. It was the kind of cold that literally takes your breath away. DD and Dd went outside to sled and were back in after only five minutes! Today should be in the 20's, and by Sunday it'll be in the 40's!!!!!

Spring is just around the corner. I can feel it.

Last night was agility for Dakota. She did AWESOME. Of course, the see-saw and the "walk-it" weren't there, just a panel (which I thought she'd refuse, but she didn't). The panel is a tipi like structure about seven feet at the tippy-top. It has 1x1 boards attached about every twelve inches. It's steep, it's tough for the dogs to scrabble up and not tumble down the other side. The can't jump up too high, or jump off too soon -- the bottom two feet (or so) is painted yellow, and the dog has to touch the yellow on both sides. The dog needs a running start to this, and I had Dakota on-leash for the first try, thinking I'd have to drag her up it.

Nope. She dashed right up like she'd been doing it for years.

Next week is her last beginning agility class. The instructor wants Dd to go into intermediate, but I'm on the fence. Yes, I think she can do it, but it's at 7 o'clock -- which to most of you sounds early enough, but I typically go to bed by 8:30 or so. I'll have to give it some thought.

=====================

We saw a little kitty at Pet Quarters yesterday that reminded my of a kitty I used to have. She's tiny and black and she wobbles. I asked the lady there about her and was told that this baby was found at three days old inside an OPERATING wood chipper. She had a head injury, so her balance isn't very good, but otherwise she's a sweetie. It does make me wonder if the rest of her litter was there and if someone put them there on purpose or if the mama thought it was a safe place for them.

If I wasn't married to my DH, I'd have a house full of pets.

========================

Going to go now and write... I've been slacking a bit this week and haven't made my 1000 daily words. So, I need to get moving and play catch-up.

Anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend?

OMG poor kitten! I'd have been a sap and adopted it right away. I hope his littermates made it too. My mom found a baby kitten on the side of the road, had been tossed out of the car. She brought him home, bottlefed him (he couldn't have been more than a week old) and he lived to be about 15. He was a lucky cat. It was evening and she was in a car. I'm surprised she even saw him (he was an orange cat, kind of blended in).

No big plans this weekend. Work and who knows. Sleep in maybe.

Didn't make my goal today, but I've been doing so well on other days I'm not too concerned.

happy writing!

Ceri, the kitty of mine that this one reminded me of was one I found. She was 4 weeks old, skin, bones and ears and covered with fleas (and had worms, of course, since fleas and worms go hand-in-hand). She was completely wild and never did quite settle down.

That's good news about Dakota.

Our snow and ice should melt - we are to be in the forties and fifties - so excited about the warmer weather!

Have a great weekend, Marianne!

Hearing about that little kitty makes me sad. I hope they find a loving home for it once it recovers.

Kudos to Dakota!!!!

And enjoy your weather!

My FIL starts work at 4 a.m. We don't call after 7 p.m. so I totally get not wanting to be committed to a class a that time.

But, WTG, Dakota! Is she calming down some, now?

Awwww, poor wobbler kitty. I hope it finds a loving home. And if I could, I'd probably have more than I have now, but I am realistic in that I can only give so many kitties the attention they deserve.
That's good news about Dakota! Are the classes helping her discipline?

I hope you have a lovely day!

Yep...I'm in the same pet boat. I told Mulletman that the first thing I plan to do if he dies is cry a day or two and then I'm going to buy goats and cats and a pony and 2 dogs.

oh man, I feel bad for the kitty. I sure hope it wasn't done on purpose.

I'm so happy that Dakota is excelling in the agility classes.

How is Dakota doing with the probiotics?

I hope your Friday was a good one.

Awww, poor wobbly kitty. I'm a sucker for cats. I stopped asking the dh. I just bring 'em home. I've been told there's another little cat at school, but I've already got FIVE.
