This and That

In order to live off a garden, you practically have to live in it. ~Frank McKinney Hubbard

Judy nudged me yesterday and mentioned that I didn't say how DD was doing after her fall. Sorry. She's doing okay. I'm fairly certain she has a bit of whiplash, though, as her neck is slightly swollen. Makes sense, since her head was over the side and would have snapped up and back... poor kidlet. Still, aside from that, she hasn't complained about any other discomfort. She really got off easy (me, too!).

=========================

We gardened quite a bit yesterday. Finally got the bush I bought for Bailey put in place. I also added an azalea and all of the coral bells in the garden that I wanted to move. I'll take pictures once I have the mulch down -- getting that today.

We also planted the first bits in the veggie garden!!! Let me hear a WOOT!

DD planted carrots and a few peas, and I planted a TON of peas so that I can shell and freeze them. Cheaper than buying organic :-)

We also planted the cucumber seeds (a little late, darn it) and turned over the soil in the garden some. I don't till it with a power tiller because I have worms (I actually BOUGHT worms for the garden...they're the best little composters ever) and actually I have lots of toads who hibernate in there as well (probably eating my worms, lol), so I don't want to slice and dice the wildlife. I very carefully use a pitchfork, though I'm still scared I'm going to skewer a toad, at least the odds are a little lower. I have killed a toad yet, though I've waked up a few!

Today is supposed to be sunny and warm again, but we have dog school at eleven, so don't know how much we'll get done. Hopefully some since the next few days are supposed to be yucky.

================================

No writing yesterday. Between school and gardening and my psycho dog there was little time for it. Today? I hope so!!

You Would Choose Love

Money may buy a little happiness, but not the happiness of true love.

You rather have a true soulmate than a private jet.

And while many people may claim they would choose love too...

You're one of the few who would really do it.

Is your garden fenced in? How do you deal with deer and rabbits?

I'm glad DD is better. Ice might help the swelling?

Oh! I read about your daughter's fall, how scary! Thank goodness she's all right. I can't imagine how awful that must have been for all three of you. I love it that the dog sat with you. :)

Hoping dog school goes well today.

Great that you began planting! Yoo hoo! I'm hoping to get onions and asparagus in this afternoon but I don't know. Those little black bugs are out in force here. And the blasted things have big teeth!!

Have a good one. :)

I'm glad DD is okay.

Isn't it wonderful that spring-like weather is upon us. It makes one feel alive with joy of being outdoors.

Kewl that you were able to do some gardening. When will you see the first sign of vegetables ready to eat?

Good luck with Dakota at dog school.

re: quiz - I would choose love.

Have a good Wednesday.

Hope you get some writing in today!

I actually had the opportunity to marry for money, but didn't. When I took the quiz though it said I would choose money! Too funny.

Glad DD is okay. Keep an eye on that neck.

Oh, dog school. You're so brave.

The quiz said I would marry for money...um, yeah, that's why I married a civil servant. Because they get paid so much.

Glad to hear DD is ok. I hope the swelling in her neck goes down soon.
Your gardens sound so pretty. I planted a tomato plant, that's it. *G*

Have a good day and I hope you are able to write!
