Daring Girls

The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think - rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.

Someone (Tori?) recommended I check out "The Daring Book For Girls" for my DD (It was on the post about string games). So, I did! LOL... My library had it available in the YA section and I picked it up yesterday. Some of it's silly, but most of it is pretty darn cool. I have to admit, though, I don't think most "young adults" today (i.e. tweens and teens) would be interested in most activities in this book. I do think, however, they would find the other information: famous women, letters from Abigail Adams to her husband, etc., quite interesting.

My DD is terribly excited to look through it. There are directions for climbing trees and how to be a spy and camping in your backyard. It's cute. Thanks!

==========================

Okay, I know I'm not dyslexic. I read fine, was reading younger than most. But, I think my fingers are dyslexic. I frequently type words backwards. Completely... not just mixing up a couple of letters. One will be eno, for instance. And I do it (that originally came out ti) without thinking. It's the strangest thing. Tell me I'm not alone in this?

===========================

I'm not sure about the release date of my story "The Christmas Curse" -- it may be November 14th, or it may be November 19th. I'm inclined to think it'll be the 14th, since that's when they typically release this length story. Tune in next week to find out! I haven't a clue what I'll do to promote it, but will think of something by then.

Promotions aside, it was a really fun story to write. You should grab a copy. I think it'll make you smile.

============================

Gotta go write, so that's it for me for now. I'll update the word count later!

You Are Pumpkin

Realistic and practical, you see the world for how it is.
You know what it takes to succeed in life...
And you're happy to help others reach their goals.

Well... yeah. That's about spot on.

I type things backwards and inside out all the time. My worst are "and" and "it" but in my case I think it's just carelessness. I type too fast.

Hope you have a productive day today. I have to go through my Sweet Forever galley which means putting NaNo on the back burner. I'm hoping I can find a way to do both. I'm on a NaNo roll but still behind.

So much fun to see the NaNo counts rising. Keep up the good work Marianne! You're leaving me in the dust--good for you! :)

November is one of my favorite months. Yeah, I like frenzy.

I tried to comment yesterday, but Blogger was toying with me. "Here's the comment box thingy but you can't write in it! Na-na-nu-na-na!"

Stupid Blogger!

I'd love to read your new story, so let me know when it's out.

OK...Off to get Jason's bike fixed and bring in some goaty fun.

I'm waaaay behind, but I've decided that I'm just going to keep plugging away even after NaNo is over. I'm having too much fun to be discouraged by a low word count!

The Daring Book for Girls sounds fun. I think we may go to the library today - DS has the day off from school for some teacher's comp day or something...

I'm glad you could find a copy of Daring Girls so easily. :)

I have words that come out typed backwards, too! TWINS! *g*

I Am Cameo

You are understanding and very empathetic.
You don't tend to have acquaintances. Everyone is your friend.
And all of your friends tend to be friends. You have a knack for bringing very different people together.

First of all, I didn't realize Cameo was a COLOR. *rolling eyes* And secondly, I'm not sure that's really me anyway.

I definitely want to read your new story. I am switching my letters around a lot when I type. I'm doing it frequently - driving me nuts.

I always get numbers backwards and sometimes words! I'll have to see about that book. My dd might like it!

You're not alone...my fingers are dyslexic too (or they just want to tell a different story...I'm not quite sure!).

I freguently type words backwards and most often inside out. Usually I catch it, but sometimes not. *g*
The Daring Book for Girls sounds interesting, I'll have to see if they have that at our library.

Tori, I didn't think Cameo was a color either, I wonder if they mean Coral? (Which is what alot of older cameos were carved from.)

I hope you were able to get your writing done! Have a good day!

If I type too fast, words that I thought I typed are not what appears.

My orange color is cameo.

I hope your day was pleasant.
