Wall-to-Wall With Work Wednesday

"It's been my policy to view the Internet not as an 'information highway,' but as an electronic asylum filled with babbling loonies." - Mike Royko

Yup... and I'm one of them :-)

Yesterday, I was blocked out of the LASR website. I couldn't see it, I couldn't modify it... nada. I could go anywhere else in the world I wanted to go, except the one place I needed to be. Thankfully, I walked Judy through uploading the days pages, but I was frustrated and angry. After much research, DH said it was our ISP blocking me. So I called them. And spent A LOT of time with them, only to have them say it wasn't there fault and they would connect me with Microsoft, because it was obviously my computer.

And then they cut me off.

I stared at the phone for a moment, then Googled Verizon, and dialed their sales office. When they asked me what I needed, I arranged to switch over our phone and internet to them. Last year, we switched from our previous cable carrier (who still did our phone and internet) to DirectTV because our previous cable carrier wasn't going to offer NHL Center Ice.

As a result, we ended up with not only Center Ice, but more channels, a FREE DVR and TiVo service for less than we'd been paying before. Yesterday, the same thing happened. I got phone service AND internet service for far less (almost HALF AS MUCH) than I was paying before. Nearly everyone else on my street uses Verizon and all have been very happy with their service.

I'm just glad to chuck my soon-to-be-previous phone and internet provider.

And... strangely enough... after an hour or two, a miracle occurred. I could get into the site. So, it was my computer, huh?

=========================

I heard from my Samhain editor yesterday. She wants me to change the title of "Isn't She Liv Leigh". *sigh*

Not only do I adore the title, choosing titles is a pain. Still, I understand her reasoning. Darn it. So I'm going to do it.

Somehow.

Judy and I messed around with a few ideas yesterday, and started getting downright silly. My personal fave? "Marry a Mechanic... And Ruin My Manicure?"

Anyone who knows anything about Liv is more than welcome to email me with suggestions.

=========================

Just to let you know ... this is Judy's baby. But, it appears we at LASR are hosting a Yahoo group called: We Love Romance. If YOU love romance, go check it out!

==========================

Speaking of romance (books, that is!), we're still giving away an autographed copy of Jill Monroe's book, "Hitting the Mark". And, last night, I gave you ANOTHER chance to enter. Go check out her spotlight today, and find out how!

We are also giving away a free eBook! So... this week there are TWO prizes and TWO winners! Have you entered yet?

It's the other guys fault. Always is. No one wants to take responsibilty for anything anymore.

I hate picking titles. Sometimes it just pops out at me but other times it's painful and I second guess myself constantly.

Going to check out the group.

No, No, NO!!!

I LOVE the title Isn't She Liv Leigh. Can't you do anything to change your editor's mind? Offer to stoneground some flour for her or something?

Btw, about cover art -- I tried to find romance back-cover copy the other night and ended up on Smart Bitches Who Read Trashy Novels. oh ho ho ho ha ha hee hee hee ... the cover art they showcase, so so funny.

I hope YOU get a GOOD one.

I love Isn't She Liv Leigh. Sniff. Sigh. Do you think my tears would alter your editor's decision?

Oh Marianne, I'm sorry to hear about the title change. I've got to admit I love the one you've chosen. I've been smiling every time I think of it. But I'm sure you'll choose something else that's just as catchy.

Good luck! I know titles can sometimes be a bear to choose. :)

Wow, that's interesting about your title. I'm lousy at titles and didn't like two of mine so asked for help from Samhain editor. She didn't have any opinion so kept both. I like your present title, too, but I know this happens a lot when an editor wants it changed. I'm sure you'll think of another great one to please you and editor.

sorry about the hassle you had yesterday with site issues and etc.

Ceri's right, it's ALWAYS the other guy's fault. Drives me insane.

That sucks about your title. I thought it was really clever!

I got:

Which Positive Quality Are You?
Your Result: Faith

You are Faith. Faith is the belief in better things, in spite of the cynicism and doubt that swirls around us. Faith gives us strength; it inpsires us to move forward and follow our hearts. "Faith tells us what the senses do not."

Hmm. Not sure about that.

Glad the internet mess got straightened out. that had to have been frustrating.

I've learned never to get attached to a title. I actually called Marriage for Baby that as a joke because I knew they'd changed the title as usual. Except that time the joke was on me. They kept that one.

Bummer about the title change, I liked what you came up with.

I got
Which Positive Quality Are You?
Your Result: Peace

You are Peace. Peace is the opposite of anger and destruction. Peace is calm. It tears down barriers; it brings us together. Peace is a noble goal sought by the good of heart. "May peace prevail on earth."

NOOOOOOOOO! I like the original title. What's your editor's reason for changing it?

I like your title! Boo!

As for Internet, we have problems sometimes too and it's always our Modem, uh-huh right. Thats what they tell me until hubs calls and fusses at them. *g*

As for the Quiz, I am Love.
You are Love. Love is the glue that binds us all together. The love of family, the love of friends, the love between husbands and their wives--these things form the foundation of our happiness, our security, and our comfort. "All you need is love." *g* Okay, I'll take it.

Have a good evening and good luck with the title.
