Meandering Monday

“Zen is not some kind of excitement, but concentration on our usual everyday routine.” - Shunryu Suzuki

Monday... Normally I love Mondays. Monday is when my days slip back into a routine and I love me a good routine. Not so, today. Today is Labor Day -- so DH is off work. Additionally, although we have what is apparently the best boat in the whole world now, and even though it's going to be 86 degrees and sunny here, DH has opted to stay home. So, wave goodbye to the return of routine! ((Bye, bye routine)).

However, since it's Monday it must mean that The Long and the Short of It has started a new week as well! We have a new author spotlight (Multi-published author, Ceri Hebert), a new contest, and something else new every single day. Why not stop by and check it out?

In Pillar Place: Swallowtail P2, both Martin and Rose are nearly big enough to make their pupae. They've been so easy... I keep wondering what the catch is. After all the drama from the previous group of swallowtail caterpillars, I expected more trouble. Not that I'm complaining.

I took Tori up on this meme:

10 Things I Love that Begin with A

1. Apples -- I'm pretty sure I eat more apples than any other kind of fruit. Of course, if some fruits were as easy to eat -- say, pomegranates or kiwis, I'd probably eat a lot of those, too!

2. Allie's writing -- She's seriously one of the best authors I know.

3. Agnes and the Hitman -- restored my faith in Jenny Crusie. I didn't LOVE "Don't Look Down", though it was readable. And I couldn't make it through "The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes" -- I skimmed the last third. But, Agnes? Oh yeah. Great book, great fun, great writing. Thanks, Jenny and Bob!

4. Anno's blog -- she never disappoints me and can make anything sound interesting.

5. Alliteration -- though I wish I was better at it. Judy and I had a lot of fun thinking up phrases for each daily event at LASR. Did we do a good job?

6. Animals -- Pretty much all of them. I'm thinking... yeah, I love 'em all.

7. Arachnids -- good bugs, and so very cool to observe. I wanted to cry the other day when two boys found a spider on their skateboard jump and squashed it. If I'd'a been closer, I'd've grabbed the poor critter and moved him away from those murderers.

8. Armed Forces -- thank you. Need I say more?

9. Asparagus -- wish our crop would have grown better. Best we can figure, the wire worms got it.

10. Arms -- especially those of my DD. She uses them frequently for big, squeeze-y hugs.
Anybody else want to play? Let me know in the comments, and I'll give you a letter of your very own.

Stolen from Anno, who got it from Charity:

Your Personality Cluster is Introverted Intuition

You are:

Multilayered and complex
Inspired and driven to achieve your goals
A visionary with a complete life plan
Intuitive enough to understand difficult problems, ideas, and people

I love this morning's quote! It's really something to remember.

Hope you enjoy the holiday Monday. I know I'm going to need to be reminded for the remainder of the week just which day it is, LOL.

I love this morning's quote, too. And I'm all discombobulated because not only is it Labor Day, but it's also the day before DH... starts... school.

Anyway, I have recipes posted today and have two other Recipe Days - LASR can use any of those recipes if you need/want them.

and yes, you can use that writing piece, lol! Thanks for asking!

That is a good quote, I like it.

for the quiz, my personality cluster is also an introverted intuition.

Have a good day.

I love your quote -- and your list! Give me a letter, and I'll give it a try!

Wow, thanks for the compliment :) And yes, I think you and Judy did a marvelous job thinking up catchy phrases for LASR.

I'll play long as you don't give me X...

Great list! Except for that spider thing. I hate spiders. *shudder*

My personality cluster is:

Your Personality Cluster is Introverted Feeling
You are:

Tolerant, flexible, and open to new ideas.
A stickler for integrity and authenticity.
Passionate about causes, beliefs, or politics.
Likely to have many "best friends" from many walks of life

I saw that letter thing on Tori's blog. Neat to see yours, too.

Hope your non-routine day goes okay and you have some fun! I'm going to enjoy a well-deserved day off. No labor for me on this Labor Day!

The qoute is interesting.
And the meme sounds fun, but I'd hate to get stuck with a very hard letter! *G*
Sorry about your routine kerfluffle. Hubs have a way of disrupting them, don't they? *G*

I received the same on the quiz as you did.

Have a good Labor Day!
