Friday and Pictures

DH stayed home yesterday ... he has a 45 mile commute daily, and while it normally takes him over an hour, when the weather is bad (and we got a foot of snow yesterday -- most since "snowtober") it can take 3 - 4 hours.

Here was my deck midday:

Here was me midday:

I'm so completely buried in work I can barely breathe. Forgive me for only visiting sporadically this week. If I ever get caught up, I'll be back.

In other news, DD complained of her ears popping painfully all day yesterday and even woke me up at 3 a.m. saying her ears popped and hurt. What is that? Anyone?

Have a good weekend!

Where Did Monday Go?

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once. ~Jennifer Yane

So... I pretty much spent my day sleep-walking yesterday. The night before I'd not been able to sleep well (after the first couple hours -- I CRASHED from about 9:30 - 1:00). Woke up and started thinking about our restaurant bill from the Sunday dinner (DH surprised us and took us out for our bi-annual seafood dinner, lol). It wasn't adding up in my head until I finally just got up and found the receipt.

And then, of course, I was so awake I tossed and turned. So -- I spent the day in a fog, compounded by having a TON of work and some other personal stressors that I won't go into here. Made me a little spacey and cranky. Enough so my DD came downstairs at one point sobbing. "I hate when you're cranky."

I dread the day when she finally goes through puberty -- she's so unbelievably emotional already that I picture her just crying her way through every period.

Anyway, I managed more than four hours of sleep last night, but have out-of-the-house errands planned for much of the day, which puts a wrench in my ability to catch up on work and have DD get her schooling done.

I'm amused when folks assume that, just because I'm *home* that I'm endlessly available to do stuff. Um, homeSCHOOL is just school at home. It doesn't do itself.

And so, thus are the Days of my Life ("like sands through the hourglass...." -- does that show even say that anymore or have they updated themselves to be more mod?).

BTW, I'm trying to visit everyone. I know I say that all the time, and I keep thinking that life will settle down a bit, but no such luck. I WISH I had five minutes to be bored. I'm never bored anymore... but you're all in my reader and I'll get there when I can take a breath.

Have a great Tuesday.

Frustrated and Frazzled

Stress is nothing more than a socially acceptable form of mental illness. ~Richard Carlson

Was on pretty much a dead run all day yesterday and, for whatever reason, didn't handle it with my usual aplomb. Spent the day feeling frazzled and frustrated -- AND, I didn't get to blog-hop again. I miss reading your stuff. I hate that. Still, today is a new day, so will do my best to move through it with grace and composure. *G*

I borrowed the first season of Eureka from the library yesterday. I can't wait to watch it -- last week's show reminded me how much things have changed in the past years, so it'll be fun to return to the beginning.

DD and I decided not to volunteer at the library officially -- they require a work schedule, which I understand, but right now I'm still trying to wrap my brain around everything we're already doing and the thought of having something specific scheduled again was more than I could handle. Instead, we're adopting shelves, which means we make sure they're in proper order, that the books are in good shape (and send them for repair if they aren't), and check for series that aren't marked on the spine. As we get the shelves we chose yesterday organized, we'll adopt more. So, we're still helping -- just not in a truly official capacity, and we can show up every week when we can.

It's getting into the 40s at night now, so I have to think about taking down my veggie garden. Might do that over the weekend... we'll see. The tomatoes are about done anyway, but I might leave the cucumbers and squash until it officially freezes. Ugh... don't want to think about winter.

And that's life in my neck of the woods. I am going to try desperately to catch up with y'all today. Hope to see you then!

You Are Low Key and Relaxed

You are a energetic, warm, optimistic person. You approach everything with a lot of enthusiasm.

When you are happiest, you are calm. You appreciate tradition and family. You enjoy feeling cozy.

You tend to be afraid of change. You are never ready for things to be different.

You find love to be the most comforting thing in the world. You feel at peace when you're with your loved ones.

Your ideal day is active and full. You like to keep busy with your favorite things, and you appreciate a routine.

You are very impatient. You spend more time waiting for something than actually enjoying it.

Except for the title and the first paragraph, it's pretty close... lol...
