Christmas is over

A half-baked idea is okay as long as it's in the oven. ~Author Unknown

The stockings are no longer hanging by the chimney with care. Visions of sugarplums are over. Although I am still liking the part about kerchiefs and settling down for a long winter's nap.

Yesterday the decorations came down. I was so ready... if I hadn't had to wait until Christmas, they would have been down earlier. Truthfully, there was a dearth of Christmas spirit this year. I'm not sure why.

Snow, ice and rain today (in that order). Not sure how I feel about any of those...

On a writing-type note, and to my writer-type readers: Why is it when you're trying to brainstorm a story you inevitably end up thinking of some truly amazing stuff on another one?

Whilst thinking about Geoff and/or Nick I had this incredible, long-term idea for my fantasy novel. I realized just WHY the throne (now a sentient being) was so important and WHY the queen had to be an empath, and how those things affect the world they live in. And it makes me itch to work on that story instead.

That's just wrong.

Now... what do I do about JaNoWriMo? Which, in case you don't remember, is only FOUR DAYS AWAY.

Our Christmas decorations usually stay up until New Years Day, but like everyone else, the spirit is low here (for the grown ups, not so much for the kids) so I wouldn't be surprised to come home from work to find the tree down and the stockings put away. It's okay. Our tree this year was under 2 feet tall. And it only got knocked over twice. Next year I'm hoping the kitten will be out of her wild child stage and we can have a normal sized tree.

I hear ya on coming up with great ideas on other wips. Happens to me all the time! In the meantime I'm still trying to finish up my Sweet Forever sequel.

Wait ... JaNo is in four days? How did that happen? I am so not ready.

Because you can't force a story. It's like rushing a soup. You still have something edible, but the flavors haven't had time to bloom.

As I finish up on TWIST, I'm getting all kinds of really good stuff on other stories. I just make a note and move on.

And far as JaNo? I'm working on two things simultaneously.

I hear you on the lack of Christmas Spirit this year, I was greatly relieved when it was over. Our tree will stay up until New Year's Eve, but then everything will be put away for next year.

I hope your ideas continue to flow! And your story elements sound fabulous!

Have a nice day!

My incubation period is stinking. Stinking big, rotten eggs. I can't even find the right reading to get my brain going.
