And the Winner Is...

Isn't it funny that at Christmas something in you gets so lonely for - I don't know what exactly, but it's something that you don't mind so much not having at other times. ~Kate L. Bosher

The winner of my "Win it Before You Can Buy it" contest to receive an autographed copy of "One Love For Liv" is....

((((drum roll here)))

Sylvia Dickey-Smith!!

Congrats to Syl and thanks to everyone who entered. By the way, I'm more than happy to offer autographed books to anyone who wants them for $11 plus shipping cost, or I'll send you an autographed book plate to affix to the inside of the book -- if you've already pre-ordered your copy, if you choose. Just email me (authormariannearkins AT gmail DOT com) and I'll take care of that for you.

=====================

Can you believe it's a week until Christmas? Oy. Where did the time go?? DD and I still need to do our baking (we'll do that on Friday while it snows like crazy again and we're housebound anyway) and I need to shop for dinner (I may do that today, just so I don't have to fight crowds at the store next week). I'm giving serious thought to boycotting Christmas next year! It's just so crazy... it doesn't seem like this much stress should be associated with such a lovely holiday.

Are you ready for Christmas? What plans do you have? How do you feel about the busy-ness of the season?

=======================

It snowed a few inches yesterday. Both DD and Dd had a blast playing! I wish I'd taken movies of the two of them sledding. DD would go down the hill, with Dd running alongside. Once, Dd jumped on the sled by herself and went down the hill -- I'm no sure she really enjoyed that! LOL...

Thankfully, we didn't lose power. But, more snow (and a bigger storm this time) is due on Friday and then again on Sunday! Seems winter is finally here.

========================

Thirteen more days until JaNoWriMo begins -- anyone is welcome to join us. It should be fun... low stress, and crazy (judging from the folks involved)! If you're interested in trying to write 50,000 words in a month on anything you choose, email me (authormariannearkins AT gmail DOT com) and I'll get you all set up.

It'll be good.

Congrats Sylvia!

Christmas is low-keyed this year in my family.

Big congrats Sylvia!

Here, too, Christmas is fairly low key. We have family over to spend the day but often we go snow-shoeing on Christmas Eve (in the moonlight!) and take things pretty much as they come. No big pressure, really.

I do have a few packages to get out and a small pile of cards to send but I'm basically done. Today I'll get to baking, which is something I love to do.

All is well here. Sounds like you're having fun, too.

And yes, I think JaNoWriMo is going to be a blast! :)

Christmas? What's that? Oh, that's what we're celebrating in January this year out of necessity. I just can't get into the spirit. We're going to do our annual Christmas Eve dinner with my mom but all other normal activities are going to be postponed until everyone has their power back up. I'm definitely going to do stockings for the kids, but I'm sure they can be patient enough to see us through.

I'm such a downer! But looking forward to JaNaNo!

Christmas is very relaxed for us this year. We've ditched the presents for people and are focusing on "presents" for the Lord in the form of blessing the poor and the lonely -both with money and with service. It's so fun!

The girlies will sing at church this Sunday and have some extra rehearsals this week, but it doesn't feel overwhelming at all.

My mom's baking, so I'm not bothering to, except for pies for a community meal on Christmas day.

We have a Christmas Eve service we'll attend.

We'll have some sort of family meal on the 26th, but we're keeping it pleasantly low-key.

I'm just loving the whole season this year!

Christmas is coming together slowly. I'm going to take every day to get it all together. My deadline 12/25. We'll leave the tree up through Epiphany and celebrate the 12 days of Christmas!

I'm so psyched for JaNaWriMo. I've been prewriting and trying to pull it all together. I'm also trying something new. I bought the Discovering Story Magic packet of handouts on line. Hopefully that will help with the conflicts!

I'll be baking today! We're snowed in yet again. I need to call Hollywood Video and see if i can get the DVDs for a few more days. I can't make it in to turn them in and they are due today!

Congrats, Sylvia!!!

Am I ready ready for Christmas? Not really. I am, however, as ready as I'm going to get. :)

Congratulations Sylvia!

I'm prepared for Christmas, but not really ready for it. *g* It's been stressful this year and has dampened my enjoyment of the season. But, the kids are certainly looking forward to it!

I hope you get everything you need to done!
