It's going to snow today (there's a shocker) -- expected 3 - 6" accumulation, and then again on Sunday (4 - 6" accumulation). I can't begin to tell you how excited that makes me.
So, in celebration of being housebound, and because Christmas is only a scant week away, we will be baking today. DD is getting quite competent at reading a recipe (though, she's trying to do what I do... make changes to them on the fly, and she's not really aware of how different ingredients impact a dish, so it's been interesting) so she'll be doing most of the work.
On the menu:
Holiday M&M's chip cookies
Snickerdoodles
Chocolate Fudge
Chocolate/Peanut Butter Fudge
Thumbprint cookies
I'd do sugar cookies, because she loves to decorate them -- but the fact is: no one really likes to EAT them and I hate waste.
It seems, from the answers to my question yesterday, that most folks are still trying to finish their Christmas preparation chores (except for Groovy who is just gliding along... I plan to take a page out of her book next year).
===========================
Dd isn't feeling very well again -- I'm really beginning to get concerned. I admit to being a little blasé about her vomiting problem (having lived with Bailey for eleven years, who also had a vomiting problem), but Dakota's seems to be getting worse, not better. I think (I hope!) yesterday may have been a combination of LOTS of playing and eating of snow. We feed her nothing extra - her kibble ONLY. No treats. No people food. Of course, she manages to find things to eat all by herself: tree needles, bark, fuzz, and anything else at eye level or lower.
Still, she's perky and all other bodily functions are normal.
Bet you were DYING to read about doggie bodily functions today, weren't you. Just be glad you weren't Judy yesterday ... we were chatting and then suddenly she got a message like this:
ICK!
DOG VOMIT!
ACK!

I know a lot about Christmas too. :)
Sugar cookies don't last very long at our house, they're very popular. Santa, however, prefers chocolate chip. I may try to get the kids to do some baking today. Trying to get some Christmas spirit after the weather mess. We may have to tone down this year, but we should still celebrate.
3-6"?? I heard up to a foot. At least in the direction that we have to drive, which is Boston. At 1am to be there by 430am.
Sorry Dd isn't feeling so good. Hope everything is okay with her.
That settles it. I'm coming to your house. lol
Ref: Dakota
I have a friend with a dog who has a similar problem. She seems fine in all other respects except for the vomiting. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her.
It sounds like Dakota browsing the forest floor might be the culprit. There's a lot out there to upset a doggie stomach.
Sorry to hear about Dakota.
Sometimes I wish I was a baker of goods. It does make the place smell yummy.
Have fun!

Random Christmas fact: Theodore Roosevelt banned Christmas trees in the White House
I don't know how I missed yesterday, but I did. We have 8 - 12" coming down today. Ugh. I'm in the middle of very ambitious cookie-baking. I'm... um... stupid that way.
My other Christmas prep things are fine.
I had a thought on Dd.. maybe you should try different kibble? I wonder if she might be allergic to the brand you use? Pets can have allergies, too.
Oh, and cause I'm stupid THIS way, too, can you send me your nano page ONE MORE TIME because I'm definitely joining and a local friend wants to join, too (not Anno, sadly). ;-)
I got 6/10!
We've got snow and we'll be baking too! Well, once everyone does some schoolwork :-)
Have fun!

Random Christmas fact: In early England, the traditional Christmas dinner was a pig's head prepared with mustard.
That fact is disgusting! Yuck!
Sorry to hear Dakota is still getting sick. I hope her issues stop.
Have fun baking, except for some cookies for Santa Christmas Eve, we're not doing anymore baking.

Random Christmas fact: Most Christmas trees are edible. The needles are a good source of Vitamin C.
Snickerdoodles are my favorite. Hope Dakota feels better soon.
My kids love to decorate (and eat) the sugar cookies. We'll do that, plus I'm making fudge and I found a recipe online for Starbucks Cranberry Bliss bars that I'm going to try.
I'll stop there before I go all Martha Stuart. You know how prone I am to do that.
