To Do or Not To Do: NaNoWriMo

Some persons are very decisive when it comes to avoiding decisions. ~Brendan Francis

The question has been posed to me by a few people of late. As the sun starts to wane, and the temperatures drop, minds (at least writers' minds) turn to one thing: NaNoWriMo.

I love NaNo. I do ... and the first three years, I won it. My novel "One Love for Liv" was a NaNoWriMo win. I had another WIP that I loved, and lost when my computer crashed a few years back (:::pauses a moment in loving memory:::). I think NaNo really challenges you to just WRITE. It's like a month long Write Or Die, because, unless you're abnormal, you simply don't have time to go back and edit... it's all about moving forward.

That said, I just don't know if it's realistic to think I can do NaNo this year. School is WAY harder (and DD is needing a LOT more prodding to keep focused), life over at LASR/WC/Aurora is busier than ever, not to mention Goddess Fish. Do I have the time? Or am I setting myself up to fail?

It's a conundrum.

So, my answer for now is: Maybe. And if I do, I might break the rules and work on something I've already started -- I'm leaning toward "A Jewel for Geoff" the "Liv" sequel. I'm not far into it, and it needs a complete overhaul, so it's *like* starting on something new.

Do I want to do NaNo? YES. Will I? I don't know. I hope so. If I do, it's going to require some pretty massive sacrifices on my end, mostly sleep, and more dedication to working hard during every waking hour.

I'm tired already.

When we get a little closer, I'll make a definite decision.

Anyone out there planning on doing NaNo this year? Why or why not?

You Should Eat

It's likely that you've been going through a hard time, and you need to rest and refuel.

You could do with some nourishment, and not just the caloric kind. It's time to take care of yourself.

You find happiness when you put your own needs first. You deserve the best, and you should be pampered more.

Relax, indulge, and allow yourself to feel totally full. You've earned it.

LOL... I have been hungry for two weeks -- how did they know?

I think you know my NaNo answer. I have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too busy this summer to think, let alone write. NaNomight be a wonderful motivation to set aside time and make myself write. Or it could be the proverbial straw that breaks this camel's back. I think I'll ask my BHE. If I do it, I will need his support. If he's in, then I'm in, but I also will be pounding away at a WIP.

You Should Love

It's likely that you've been craving more human connection in your life lately - either romantic or platonic.

You've spent some time alone, and now you're ready to open yourself up to the world again.

You find happiness when you truly respect, appreciate, and care for someone. Relationships bring meaning to your life.

No matter how many times you've been hurt, you have a lot of love left in your future.

Sometimes I do wish my friends live closer.

When you break it down to 1700 words a day, it seems more doable. I've never done the Nanowrimo but I've got lots of friends who have.

I'm doing it. I NEED to write something new. NEED! But I've got revisions in October, then I'll hopefully have my plate clear for NaNo!

I've never done NaNo and have no plans (or desire) to do it now. Would it do me good? Probably. But it also sounds stressful and I don't need that.

I hope whatever decision you make considering NaNo, that you're happy with it.

You Should Pray
Whether you're religious or not, it's likely that you're becoming more spiritual.
You could use some time to meditate on what's important to you and what you want from life.
You find happiness whenever you take time to slow down and just be still. Your inner peace comes from within.
You have a lot of inner strength that you can tap into. You are more powerful than you know.

Hmmm.

I hope you've had a delightful Saturday!
