Happy Autumn!

The foliage has been losing its freshness through the month of August, and here and there a yellow leaf shows itself like the first gray hair amidst the locks of a beauty who has seen one season too many. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

There's going to be one unhappy chipmunk this winter. Apparently one little rodent buried a cherry tomato as part of his winter store. Sadly for him, this is one bit of food that won't be around for him come December. Instead, I have this:

Yes folks, there are tomato plants growing near my front steps and in my creeping phlox. LOL..... I only wish they'd have time to produce something before our first frost, but that's not going to happen.

I expect the first frost to happen soon. It's been getting down into the 30s at night and the leaves outside are beginning to change. It always makes me a little sad, especially when I lose all my annuals to the cold. I know that many folks appreciate the change in seasons, but if I had it my way, winter would be abolished. I could handle three seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall ....oh look, here's spring again! But winter and I do not get along.

What's your favorite season? Why?

====================

You Are Low Key and Relaxed

You are a energetic, warm, optimistic person. You approach everything with a lot of enthusiasm.

When you are happiest, you are calm. You appreciate tradition and family. You enjoy feeling cozy.

You tend to be afraid of change. You are never ready for things to be different.

You find love to be the most comforting thing in the world. You feel at peace when you're with your loved ones.

Your ideal day is active and full. You like to keep busy with your favorite things, and you appreciate a routine.

You are very impatient. You spend more time waiting for something than actually enjoying it.

Except for the optimistic part, this is pretty close.

Do you have a big sunny window in the house?

Last year I brought in a cherry tomato I potted and it produced little tomatoes most of the winter.

Now I had to pollinate by hand and it probably didn't look as green as if it had been outside, but it did produce.

It might be worth a try.

Ref: seasons
I love the fall but spring is my season.

I love the Fall, for as little as we get of it in the desert!

Of all the seasons Fall is my favorite. I love the changing of the leaves, the cooler mornings and evenings and the ability to go outside without being eaten alive by mosquitos. *g*
How did the painting go yesterday?

I don't like winter any longer. I like summer a lot because I enjoy swimming in our pool, but otherwise I like fall and spring the best. I took the quiz and got the same thing as you. I don't think I'm impatient though.

I like Spring as long as there are no tornadoes. And I like Fall.

Fall is my absolute favorite. I love the cooler weather. And of course the foliage is spectacular. There's no annoying black flies like there is in spring. Unfortunately there's hunting season. And unfortunately fall is too quickly followed by winter. I want months of fall and only three weeks (starting just before Christmas and ending just after New Year) of winter.

Maria, I've never had success bringing outdoor plants inside -- but I'm considering getting a grow light this year.

Liz, I envy you your desert. I really do. If anything ever happens to my DH, you may find me on your doorstep :-)

Dru, I agree -- spring and fall are the BEST.

Brandy, the painting is STILL ongoing. Last night was supposed to be the end: wet sanding and buffing. BUT, they discovered there was too little clear coat on the hood and needed to redo it. Now they have to wait 24 hours before it can be worked again.

I swear, it's never going to end!

Diane, I'd have given my left arm for a pool this year! I do envy yours.

Tori, since you live so far south, I can understand why you're not in love with summer! But, hey, you have a dollar store nearby, so you can't complain too much. *G*

Ceri, I LOVE your idea of three weeks of winter. Let's do that!!! ;-)
