Writing Angst

Sex: the thing that takes up the least amount of time and causes the most amount of trouble. - John Barrymore

And if that wasn't true, romance novels wouldn't exist!

=============================

Lately, it seems many, many, many people I know have had computer crashes. It's amazing! There's a rash of that happening, and it happened again yesterday so I quickly backed up all my important stuff onto my flash drive.

Then, last night I dreamed we had a fire and I panicked and ran downstairs INTO THE FIRE because I keep my flash drive right next to my laptop and they were both on the dining table. It was awful. Today, I will give some thought as to where to keep the flash drive at night. Maybe in my night stand, so I can grab it easily in case of a fire. LOL... Fire? Grab dog, grab cat, grab DD, grab flash drive. Hubs can grab himself... so to speak.

Fact is, in the past I've lost everything twice in computer crashes. Yes, it's true.... I didn't learn the first time. I also have an email account set up that I email my WIPs to, but I haven't done that in a while.

To add to my author angst, after I received my galleys for "A Change of Heart" yesterday to proof, I realized that I have NOTHING ELSE currently contracted. This is the first time since I got my first contract for "Now That We've Found You" that I haven't had something contracted.

Gah. I have to admit to feeling just a little panicked. Hopefully, I'll hear a positive back from Samhain for "Kitchen Matches". And then I need to get my butt in gear and get something polished and submitted.

New pix of Dakota -- it's so cute... her feathers are just barely starting to come in. You can see them on her tail and a little around her rear end. I looked at old pictures of Bailey at the same age, and she was just barely getting them, too.

Hey... it's the hubs feet! See, he really does exist, LOL...

And Dakota watching my DD make balloon animals. She wanted those balloons in the worst way:

DD was having a blast! She made a pile of them, and then we took them to the library and gave them all away... Here's a sample of her wares:

Today's random quiz:

Your PMS Disaster Level: Medium

You definitely are a bit of a wreck once a month.

But as long as remember to take it easy, your PMS isn't a major crisis.

You've been warned...

I have a flash drive and the email accounts too, but I have to send my current wip over to them (yes them, I send it to about 4 different accounts).

I haven't had anything contracted for so long. This morning I was questioning myself as to what I should do next, proceed with my unfinished wip or start editing my finished manuscript. I think you helped me figure it out.. thanks. Editing will commence soon, maybe tonight.

I need to make balloon animals, LOL. They look so cheery!

I love it that your daughter gave them away. Now that's a great kid!:)

Happy Friday.

One thing I do is e-mail myself my manuscripts each day. (er, anything I've worked that's new)

I just realized that my flash drive is in the hub attached to the computer. I guess I should also move it.

I got the same PMS Disaster as you.

Good luck with the editing and writing.

I send my wip to a google account every so often. I figure that would save me if something happened to my computer. The one thing I haven't done a backup of is all our pictures. I need to do that!

Computer crashes send me into panic attack. I hate it when it happens and it had happened to me once. :(

My PMS disaster result is "Medium"...

My Flash isn't big enough to hold everything on my computer. So hubs burns a DVD of everything for me every couple of months. That's just not enough, huh?
Good luck with your next project!

Not that I needed a quiz to tell me this...

Your PMS Disaster Level: High

You are definitely a PMS disaster!
At least you're only scary a few days of the month.

So don't piss me off. *g*

You need a Mac.

My computer backs up selected accounts to a virtual drive in Texas (in the background, so I don't even notice) every 5 minutes while I'm working. I never lose my WIP... or the intermediate stages that I've gone through. (The writing program I use keeps all these incremental changes for me, going back a number of days, and then daily versions, going back months). It's way, way cool and also quite reassuring.

If there's ever a disaster so awful that I lose my computer and the data in Texas, I won't need my WIP, you know? I do back-ups at home for the software, etc., but knowing that my WIP is safe is priceless. (Plus, I could download it from there onto another computer and resume work right away if this one died.)
