Miscellaneous Monday

Some problems are so complex that you have to be highly intelligent and well-informed just to be undecided about them. - Laurence J. Peter

================

Today I'm being interviewed at Silvia Violet's blog -- only, it's not up yet as of this writing. When it is, come by and visit, so I don't feel so alone! My contest is here.

=================

Thought I'd just share some miscellaneous thoughts with you all today (Like that's different than any other day!).

Did you know I couldn't spell miscellaneous until my DD had it on her spelling test last year? She was so overwhelmed by the word that I broke it down into pieces for her (mis - cell - a - ne - ous) and, oddly enough, that worked for me, too! LOL...

In the same vein, did you know that "science" is also an exception to the I before E except after C rule? Some days, I really hate teaching English. It's a screwy language.

Dakota, my darling puppy, head-butted me on Saturday so that my teeth smacked together nice and hard... and I chipped a tooth. One of my front ones. It's just lovely. I seriously look like a hard core redneck now. **Sigh** (I love my dog, I love my dog...)

My webhost for "The Long and the Short of It" upgraded our hosting platform over the weekend. Now it won't let me upload pages with the same name without deleting the old ones--and, of course if I delete, say the "index.html" page well then... hello! The entire website goes down. I've been on hold with their "live chat" feature for 90 minutes thus far. Apparently, I'm not the only one having trouble. Thankfully, I figured out how to edit the pages manually, so was able to get today's changes done, but I am NOT happy.

Ah... just got off the hook with live chat, and they've changed it so I can no longer overwrite the old files. Additionally, I can only upload one file at a time, whereas I used to be able to upload ten. Color me very unhappy. When my contract is up, I'll be looking for a new webhost.

My DD is looking for Barbie clothes. The few sets we've been able to find in the stores are ugly and poorly made. Twice, when I've bought them, they've torn as soon as she's put them on the doll. So, yesterday, I found a Barbie pattern at the craft store and will send it to my mom (no, I don't really sew unless I'm under great duress). In the meantime, I watched her wrap her Barbie in toilet paper and cheesecloth yesterday and call it a wedding dress. I wasn't sure if I was tickled at her ingenuity, or sad at her desperation.

Speaking of DD, she's been working hard at writing a book on her computer. It's called "A Horse Called Wild" and I'm a little weirded out by something: I wrote my first "book" when I was in fourth grade (as she is now) and it was called "A Horse Called Mystery". Hmmm....

I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and saw two Samhain books and one The Wild Rose Press book on the shelves. Yay!

Ceri Hebert is having a contest to win her book "Sweet Forever"... I'm telling you what, folks, this is an AWESOME book. You want to read it. Actually, I want to get it in print, so I'm going to play in her contest, too. Go over and check it out. It's easy to enter. Just read and excerpt and answer a question.

I decided on which book I'm going to use to learn HTML -- it's from O'Reilly press and I can't for the life of me remember the name right now. Good thing I wrote it down. But it looks complex enough that it covers all the bases, but says it in words for people (like me!) who don't have a strong technical background. And it has pictures. Pictures are good.

It was sunny and warm here yesterday -- about 37 degrees! -- so DH washed all three vehicles (they were covered in salt) and I took the puppy for a nice long walk. Without a jacket.

What did you do this weekend?

=====================

You Have a Melancholic Temperament

Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything. You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life. You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.

Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace. You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life. Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.

At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you. You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others. You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult.

I love it that you used "vein" (another rule-breaker) in the same sentence as "science." Weird, huh!

My weekend?

Blogging, cleaning, singing, collapsing.

It's too bad we can't get our girls together. Despite the age difference, I think they have a lot in common. Miss B was playing Barbies yesterday too.

What I did was buy a big bag of gently used doll clothes on eBay. We had a blast when it arrived and now all Barbies have a sufficient number of "kicky" outfits.

I went skiing this weekend. A very fun time!

Hugs on your chipped tooth! I thought that had happened with Angus the last time he was here. My mouth hurt for a long time after that.

Good luck with the website people.

I did very little. I haven't been out of the house since Thursday. I never want to get sick again. Sorry to vent. I'm sure I'll survive. LOL

Thanks for mentioning Ceri's contest.

We bought a vehicle and had dinner with the Out-laws where I was treated to glimpses of the past via pictures. *g*
Sorry to hear about the web-hosting. I hope you can work things out.
Have a fanastic day!

*hugs* on the chipped tooth and web hosting problems!!!

You Have a Phlegmatic Temperament

Mild mannered and laid back, you take life at a slow pace.
You are very consistent - both in emotions and actions.
You tend to absorb set backs easily. You are cool and collected.

It is difficult to offend you. You can remain composed and unemotional.
You are a great friend and lover. You don't demand much of others.
While you are quiet, you have a subtle wit that your friends know well.

At your worst, you are lazy and unwilling to work at anything.
You often get stuck in a rut, without aspirations or dreams.
You can get too dependent on others, setting yourself up for abandonment.

This is SOOOO not me. ROFL!!!

I'm so sorry about your tooth! And that is an odd coincidence about your daughter...
