Behind!

Crazy weather -- rain all night, HEAVY, and then winds, EVEN HEAVIER. Woke up at 4 a.m. with every intention of getting some work done ... discovered the power was out. Didn't come back on until 5:30 a.m. I'm grateful it wasn't out long, and I'm grateful there was no snow (since they were predicting 2 - 5") but I'm already behind. After putting up LASR/WC pages and feeding the four legged family members, I had to wake DD and the day begins with me accomplishing nothing.

Worse, the wind is still blowing like crazy and who knows if the power will stay on?

Anyway, that's it for my blog post today because I need to make DD's lunch, get dressed and get ready to leave.

You Are Thoughtful and Gentle

You approach the holidays with restraint and wisdom.

For you, the holidays are all about the people you love.

You tend to concentrate on spending time with loved ones and reconnecting.

You never forget what the holidays mean to you, and you succeed in not getting caught up in the chaos.

Of all the types, you're the most likely to enjoy the ritual of wrapping presents.

You're also the most likely to give a small but very meaningful gift.

Um... that's about 75% wrong.

Weekend Weather, Woes and WingDings

A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart. ~Author Unknown

So ... we had an eventful weekend (there is an ancient curse: "May you live in interesting times." ... someone must have chanted that over us).

It snowed here on Saturday. SNOWED. A lot. We got a couple inches accumulation through the day. But then, nearing evening, it warmed and turned to rain. But morning, the snow was gone and it was WARM. Really warm. Warm enough to open the house. We had a good 20 degree change in the temps. Spring in New England is so weird...

Friday, DH went to play hockey like always -- I've always wished him well by telling him not to do all the things he's done before: "Have fun. Don't take a skate blade to the face or a puck anywhere." He has a scar on his chin from a blade slice that required 6 stitches and took a puck in the ankle about six months ago -- which doesn't sound THAT bad until you realize that a solid, hard object traveling upwards of 60+ MPH hit him. He could barely walk for a week and didn't play hockey for almost a month. Now I have something else to add...

Friday night, I went to bed (he plays until the wee hours occasionally) and fell asleep. Next thing I know, the bedroom door opens. I sit up, see no one. Then I hear DH's voice, "Don't we have crutches?" I adjust my gaze downward and there he is on the floor.

Seems he'd been skating full speed down the ice, was approaching the boards and went to do a "hockey stop" -- where you cock your skates to the side a bit. He's done it fine thousands of times, but for whatever reason, this time his feet went out from under him and he slammed, foot-first, into the boards. Going ... what? 30 MPH? More?

:::shakes head:::

Yes, he drove himself home. Yes, he crawled up the stairs. No, he hasn't gone to the doctor (and he's too big for me to force). We *think* it's badly sprained. He can walk on it ... sort of. He can move it up and down, but not side-to-side and wiggle his toes. It's badly swollen, but not bruised (except for lines of bruising down the base of his foot... I wonder if that's from his skate?).

Made for a fun, fun weekend.

DD turned twelve on Sunday -- I told her the whole world was celebrating her birthday. *G*

Except for having a grouchy, injured father around she had a good time. I got her two model horses, and she also got a Michaels GC, some clothes, a watch, notecards with a seal and sealing wax (she LOVED this!) and, of course, some cold, hard cash.

We went to the in-laws for Easter and she got to play with her cousins, which she LOVED. All in all, a good day for her.

I can't believe she's TWELVE.

And, as proof that spring is finally here:

Yes, I painted my toenails. *G*

How was your weekend?

You Are a Green Peep

You have a restless spirit, and it keeps you curious about the world.

Everything is up in the air for you. You just go where the wind takes you.

You see things how they are, and luckily, things are pretty great. You are an optimistic realist.

You need to understand what's going on with someone before you can truly empathize with them.

Peeps are just nasty ... :::shudders::: ... but this quiz is pretty close to right.

Spring?

Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn. ~Quoted by Lewis Grizzard in Kathy Sue Loudermilk, I Love You

So, we went to agility last night without Dakota. It was very strange ... and I felt a bit lost since it was DD running the other dog last night. I sat for two hours with little to do. Tonight we help with beginning agility, and once again have to leave the dog behind. Poor puppy.

A funny though: the lady bringing the dog DD was running brought her own dog in as well, funniest looking thing I've ever seen. I asked what he was and she told me to guess. I said, "Lab / Corgi." because he probably weighed 25 lbs, was the color of a yellow lab with a big head and had the shortest legs.

She said, "Nope. Pit Bull / Dachshund."

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one... that took some serious determination (and I really, really hope the the Pit Bull was the mama).

Spring is definitely on its way here -- we're having ADD weather: it's warm, it's cold, it rains, it snows. Yesterday we had it all in one day. Started out clear and warm (for us ... in the 40s), then the wind kicked in, brought in a cold front that included a pretty decent snow squall. Today it's freezing, with highs expected in the teens, but this weekend they're saying it'll be almost 50.

The "joys" of the northeast.

I am planning my garden though. I want to have more room this year, and was thinking about expanding my garden -- but opted not to. Digging anywhere here is a massive undertaking... they don't call it the Granite State for nothing. Instead, I've decided that I'm going to use my annual flower beds and plant pretty veggies. So far I've gotten suggestions for decorative kale (which is also edible), rainbow Swiss chard, eggplant, scarlet runner beans, and banana peppers. I need stuff that won't take up TOO much room, but still looks nice and we can eat it. Anyone have more ideas?

You Should Have a Pink Laptop

You are disciplined and organized. You know what you want, and you know how to go after it.

You are very prudent. You think carefully before you act. You're a big believer in sleeping on decisions.

Because you are quiet and sweet, others tend to underestimate your abilities.

You are strong and a force to be reckoned with. You are one of the most determined people around.

Except for this: Because you are quiet and sweet..." it's pretty close to right. I've been called a lot of things, but quiet and sweet aren't two of them.
