Family Day

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

Yesterday I took off the computer -- mostly. I had a few things that needed doing, but I decided to hang with the family primarily. DD and I went shopping for a few things she needed to make some jewelry, went by Tractor Supply Co (who had so nicely given me coupons for the pet food I use) and then home where I told DD we could do a puzzle.

We did a 500 piece puzzle in a couple of hours, and then she asked to play Scrabble. I played, but I admit to getting frustrated because her brain just can't seem to make more than four letter words and the board gets incredibly bogged down. Still, it's a good vocab builder, so I suffered, lol.

DH mostly sat on the couch, found Christmas music on his computer to play (via YouTube mostly) for us and made snarky comments. It's his lot in life.

Today, we might go see "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" -- DD and I have both been going a little crazy to see it. It looks great, though it clearly doesn't follow the book since the White Witch is once again in it. Even so, I'm hoping it will be good. The previews look promising -- and I want to support it so that they'll continue making the movies.

I need to bake up more dog cookies, too. And I might even go whole hog and make some people cookies as well, for the humans in our agility class. We'll see.

How was your weekend? Do anything fun?

===================

You Are Cherry Pie

You are a total sweetheart, but you also have a tart side to you as well. You can't help but be a little naughty.

During the holidays, you try to lighten the mood and keep things fun. You think that the holidays should be a time of joy... not stress.

Your ideal holiday has lot of laughter and good times. You definitely prefer a holiday with zero drama.

You believe that people often forget that holidays are for celebrating. You try to make every holiday event a bit of a party.

That's about right...

TTFN

A library is a hospital for the mind. ~ Anonymous

Taking the weekend off again -- just too much to do, too little time and DH is (of course) still off -- has been most of the week and will be off most of next week.

Come ON December.

Will be back on Monday. For now, I share a few new to me Simon's Cat episodes:

And an interview with Simon:

You Are a Wool Coat

You are both driven and accomplished. You are good at cutting to the heart of the matter.

You dress for success and it shows. You always look your best, and you present yourself well.

You are practical and smart. People would definitely describe you as savvy.

You plan ahead and anticipate worst case scenarios. You are always prepared!

All my quizzes say I'm driven ... huh...

But I need it.

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday.

A Day Off and a Funny

In order to keep a true perspective of one's importance, everyone should have a dog that will worship him and a cat that will ignore him. ~Dereke Bruce

Taking a break today, but I leave you with this (which you may have seen, but it makes me laugh every time I read it ... because it's SO TRUE):

Excerpts from a Cat's Diary

Day 983 of my captivity...

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

=======================

You Are a Thunderstorm

You are a bit temperamental and unpredictable. You have a lot of pent up energy.

You don't strike often, but when you do it can be deadly. You can be extremely destructive.

People find you to be amazing and awesome. You can be a bit scary at times, but that just adds to your appeal.

You tend to get other people excited whenever you're riled up. You aren't usually the only storm in town.

Um... okay. I actually DID have someone tell me I was scary yesterday, lol... hmmm...

A Day Off

“I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom.” - Thomas Carlyle

I was so wiped out yesterday (I was up at 3:30 a.m. -- don't ask), then hauled wood all afternoon on top of that, I was in bed by 8 p.m. I decided to make myself sleep in (and I do have to force myself, so I dozed off and on from about 4:30 until now).

I'm taking the day off everything. No writing. No cleaning. No cooking. I only have to do the agility competition (which kind of bums me out because the weather today is going to be gorgeous -- sunny and 60 degrees -- and I'm going to be indoors all day, dang it), but otherwise, I'm done.

And, this is going to be a short post, too.

Happy Sunday everybody!

A Day Off

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world. ~Ada Louise Huxtable

Going to take the dog for an early walk, sit in the sunshine with a cup of coffee and read a book.

Back tomorrow... or maybe even Tuesday, lol. I need a short vacation!

Have a wonderful day. I hope the weather is as gorgeous in your neck of the woods as it is in mine.
