BTT - Paper or Plastic

It's time once again to Book It!

Booking Through Thursday

Do you read e-Books?

Yes. Sometimes. I can't stare at a screen too long, so the shorter stuff from The Wild Rose Press is right up my alley.

If so, how? On your computer, or a PDA?

On my computer. Some day I wouldn't mind getting one of those nifty eBook readers that are back lit and look just like a book. My eyeballs might be able to handle that!

Or are you a paper purist? Why?

Honestly, I really prefer paper. I like to be able to tote them wherever I choose, including the bath tub. And too much computer makes my eyes and head ache something fierce, so mostly I bloghop or write on the computer and not much else. I would like the convenience of having a ton of books in such a small space, though! And it's nice that the eBooks are so much less expensive.

Note to self: Look into that eBook reader again. Anyone have suggestions for eBook readers?

Note for my regular blog readers: there are two more new posts below this one!

Have a great day :-)

  1. Hi Marianne, lately I notice I can't read on the monitor for too long and I've been getting headaches too. I think it's more like migraine...

    Happy BTT!

  3. Agree with the paper bit, but cannot bring myself to imagine reading anything but a real-life book.
Cannot seem to access your website at the moment, but I will try again later, it sounds interesting.

You are the same as me and can't spend too long in front of the computer screen. It gives me eye strain and if I am wearing contacts it's a complete no-go.

  5. I agree with your BTT too! I don't really "feel" the story if I'm reading it on the computer.

    My answer is up here

Re: your previous post, they were very kind and understanding indeed! :)

  6. Thanks for visiting Tea Reads - I agree, too - obviously! - after I wrote my response, it occurred to me that there was one really good application for an e-book: a travel guide!

  7. Marianne - I agree with you. I can't sit in front of computer too long. It will hurt my eyes and give headaches...

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you have good day :)

  8. I have to take breaks from the computer as well to prevent eye strain.

  9. Hi Marianne, I agree with the others about reading e-books in front of the computers for too long. It doesn't work for me...maybe for a short story but definitely not a novel. Happy BTT!

  10. If I didn't already have so many books in print sitting on my shelves to read, I probably would be checking out the eBook readers more closely. And like you, I get headaches and suffer from eye strain if I stare at a computer screen too long.

I recently started reading a series that initially came out in e-book format, but I've been reading the print copies. I suppose if I didn't have a choice, I'd read it the other way. :-)

I agree. I wouldn't advise taking an e-book reader into the bathtub!Reading the comments to my answer and the answers of other people has caused me to think about the question some more, and I've written a slightly longer post on my blog about it. It's here if your interested in reading it:

Looking forward to reading more of your BTT answers!
